Airbnb monthly stays experience

Airbnb is an online marketplace where people can book short term and longer term stays hosted by individuals and professional property managers around the world. Answer this product management case and get it graded line by line against a weighted rubric.

The situation

The VP of Homes and the Head of Core Guest have asked you to recommend how Airbnb should better serve guests booking stays of 28 nights or more. Airbnb already supports monthly stays, but much of the product still feels built for vacation travel: search is centered on inspiration, listing details are inconsistent on wifi, workspace, parking, noise, and utilities, and support flows assume short trips with light planning. Assume the following numbers: stays of a month or longer account for 18 percent of booked nights, conversion from search to booking is 25 percent lower for first time monthly stay guests than for stays under a week, and support contact and cancellation rates are 1.4 times higher. Leadership thinks this could be an important growth area because of remote work, relocations, and longer personal travel, but they disagree on the approach. Some want a dedicated living experience, others want targeted fixes inside the existing funnel. Hosts are also split, since longer stays can reduce turnover but raise concerns about damage, local rules, and guest expectations. Propose a product direction, how you would sequence it, and how you would align leadership on the tradeoffs.
