The situation
You are an entry level PM on Zomato's customer experience team in early planning for the next financial year. Over the past few years, Zomato has built internal AI driven support workflows to handle a very large volume of issues such as late deliveries, wrong orders, refunds, and partner complaints. The system now resolves many repetitive cases quickly and helps human agents focus on harder ones. Leaders from product and business are asking whether this internal capability should remain a Zomato only tool or become a product for other companies with support teams. They believe there may be demand, but the market already has many chatbot and helpdesk tools, and Zomato does not want to launch something that feels generic or distracts from its core operations. The hard question is what problem, if any, Zomato can solve better than existing options, and what the first version should include. Assume Zomato has strong internal evidence that the tool works on high volume support workflows, but no external product yet. Your task is to recommend whether Zomato should pursue an external MVP, and if so, what that MVP should look like.
What to produce
Write a 1 to 2 page product brief.
Your answer must
- Define the target customer segment and the specific support problems worth solving first.
- Explain Zomato's unique advantage, and why customers would choose this over a generic AI chatbot.
- Recommend an MVP scope with 3 to 5 core capabilities, and clearly state what you would exclude at launch.
- Propose success metrics for the first 6 months, including at least one customer outcome and one business outcome.
- Outline a simple validation plan, such as pilot design, feedback loops, and key risks to monitor.
Constraints
- The proposal must not reduce support quality for Zomato's own users while the MVP is being built or piloted.
- The MVP should build on workflows Zomato already uses internally, not a broad from scratch customer service suite.
- Setup for pilot customers should require minimal engineering effort and work with common existing support tools.
- Do not assume unlimited budget, a large new sales team, or a full platform rewrite.
Format
Use short sections with headings: customer and problem, why Zomato can win, MVP, metrics, rollout and risks.
How Zomato actually played it
Describes Nugget, Zomato's AI customer support product built from its own support experience and offered to other companies. Explains why it stands out and what the move says about turning an internal tool into a product.
- An internal capability can become a separate product
- Problem-focused AI beats generic chatbots
- Battle-tested workflows are a credible selling point
