Metrics question
A large customer account has a few highly engaged individual users, but usage is not spreading to their team. How would you diagnose where the product-led growth loop is breaking, and what product changes would you propose to turn individual adoption into team- or org-level expansion?

What this question tests
Tests the ability to diagnose where a product led growth loop breaks between individual and team adoption, and propose targeted product fixes.
How to approach it
- Check whether the highly engaged users are sharing content or results with teammates at all, since a broken sharing loop is a common first cause.
- Check whether shared content, if it exists, is actually visible and valuable to teammates who receive it, or if it gets lost.
- Check whether teammates who do see shared content convert to active users, or drop off at account setup or permissions friction.
- Segment by role, since individual contributors might adopt easily while managers or less technical roles face a higher activation barrier.
- Propose product changes targeted at the specific breakage point found, for example easier sharing, better notification of shared content, or simplified onboarding for invited users.
- Set a specific metric, like teammates activated per power user, to track whether the fix is actually closing the gap.
What a strong answer includes
- Breaks the growth loop into discrete steps, share, notice, activate, rather than treating team spread as one vague problem.
- Segments by role to find where activation friction concentrates, since individual versus team adoption often splits along role lines.
- Proposes a specific new metric, teammates activated per power user, to track whether the targeted fix actually works.
Common mistakes
- Proposing broad engagement features without first diagnosing exactly where the sharing or activation loop is breaking.
- Treating all non adopting teammates as one group instead of segmenting by role to find where friction concentrates.
Likely follow-up questions
- What would you do if the breakage is at the permissions or account setup step specifically?
- How would you measure whether a highly engaged individual is actually trying to share and being ignored?
