What this question tests

Metrics discipline before building: defining what success looks like for a feature idea prior to any engineering investment.

How to approach it

  1. Pick a specific, well known game rather than a vague genre answer.
  2. Propose one concrete feature for that game, tied to a real gap you have personally noticed in play.
  3. State the hypothesis: what player behavior or business outcome this feature is meant to change, such as session frequency or in-app purchase rate.
  4. Define a small, cheap test before full investment, such as a prototype or a limited beta with a control group.
  5. Name the metrics that would justify full investment: for example, lift in day 7 retention or increase in average revenue per daily active user versus a holdout group.
  6. Set a guardrail metric, such as session length not dropping, to catch unintended side effects.
