What this question tests

Whether you can build an adoption forecast from a clear funnel model rather than guessing a percentage out of thin air.

How to approach it

  1. Clarify the tool and audience: confirm who the target users are, internal employees or external customers, since adoption curves differ sharply.
  2. Define the funnel: awareness of the tool, trial of the tool, and repeated use after trial, since uptake means different things at each stage.
  3. Estimate awareness reach: assume the tool is announced to 100 percent of the target group through existing channels.
  4. Estimate trial rate from awareness: assume 40 percent try it in the first month based on typical new-tool curiosity rates.
  5. Estimate retention from trial: assume 50 percent of trial users continue using it after 30 days if it solves a real pain point.
  6. Combine the funnel: roughly 20 percent of the target group reaches sustained use within the first month, stated as an assumption-driven estimate.
