What this question tests

Tests whether you can take a deliberately absurd prompt and still run a real product design process instead of riffing on jokes.

Reframe the prompt: assume Google enters home appliances and ask who the buyer is, likely tech-forward households already on Google Home and Nest.
Identify pain points a fridge owner has today: manual grocery tracking, food waste, expiry dates, and disconnected shopping lists.
Prioritize one wedge, an inventory and expiry tracker synced to Google Assistant and Google Shopping, over trying to reinvent cooling hardware.
Sketch the solution: internal cameras plus barcode scanning feed a running inventory, voice queries answer 'what do I have', and low-stock items auto-suggest reorders.
Define a success metric, like reduction in self-reported food waste or weekly active use of the inventory query, not units sold.

Anchors the product in Google's actual assets (Assistant, Shopping, Nest) instead of designing a generic fridge from scratch.
Picks food waste reduction as the differentiator since it is a real, measurable household problem, not just a smart-screen gimmick.
Gives an illustrative assumption, e.g. assume 20% of groceries are wasted per household, to size the value before proposing sensors.
Separates a cheap MVP, a phone-scanned inventory app paired with any fridge, from the full hardware version.

Jumping straight to listing screen features without picking a target user or the one problem worth solving.
Treating the question as a joke and not proposing a structured, metric-backed design.
