Explain the core loop simply: you write a short thought, others see it and can respond, and you can read what others post.
Avoid jargon like feed, hashtag, or retweet.
Close with why it's useful, e.g. staying in touch with news and people's thoughts in real time.
Check the explanation still holds if asked a simple follow-up question.

Uses one clear, consistent analogy throughout, not multiple competing analogies.
Keeps the core mechanic, public short posts anyone can see and reply to, accurate under the simplification.
Strips all jargon, feed, hashtag, retweet, timeline, entirely.
Ties the explanation to something relatable, like community news or a newsletter.

Using technical terms like 'timeline' or 'algorithm' that don't simplify anything.
Losing the core mechanic in the process of simplifying, e.g. omitting that posts are public.
