What this question tests

Long-horizon strategic vision combined with the discipline to prioritize a small number of concrete bets rather than an unfocused wish list.

Frame the roadmap around 2-3 pillars rather than a broad list, e.g. AI integration across core products, cloud/enterprise growth, and next-generation computing (quantum or energy-efficient AI infrastructure).
For each pillar, name a concrete initiative, e.g. embedding AI assistants natively across Search, Workspace, and Android rather than as separate add-ons.
Address the core business risk explicitly: protecting search-ad revenue while AI changes how people find information, since this is Google's single biggest strategic tension right now.
Address competitive pressure: staying ahead of OpenAI/Microsoft and Meta in the AI race while maintaining Google's cloud and enterprise growth against AWS and Azure.
State a five-year success measure: durable revenue growth in cloud and AI-native products offsetting any structural decline in traditional search-ad revenue.

Names concrete pillars and initiatives instead of vague statements like 'invest more in AI.'
Directly addresses the core strategic tension, AI's impact on the search-ads business, rather than avoiding the hardest question.
States a clear, measurable five-year definition of success.

Giving an unfocused list of five or more disconnected initiatives with no prioritization.
Never mentioning the core risk to Google's ad business posed by AI-driven search behavior changes.
