What this question tests

Whether the candidate has real product taste and can propose a specific, well-reasoned fix rather than generic criticism.

Pick a specific, real product with a genuine, well-known design flaw, not a strawman example.
State precisely what's wrong: name the specific flow or screen, and the pain point it causes for a specific user type.
Explain why this flaw persists, considering possible business or technical constraints that might explain the design choice.
Propose a concrete alternative design, describing the improved flow in a sentence or two, not just 'make it better'.
State the tradeoff of your proposed fix, showing awareness that every redesign has a cost or risk.

Names a specific product and flow, not a vague category like 'most apps have bad onboarding'.
Proposes a concrete alternative design rather than only critiquing the current one.
Acknowledges a plausible reason the current design exists, showing empathy for constraints rather than assuming incompetence.
