What this question tests

Judgment about balancing speed and caution in building products, and whether your process is concrete rather than a vague statement about being careful.

How to approach it

  1. Define what risk means here, technical risk of building the wrong thing, and market risk of no demand, both matter.
  2. Explain your first lever, validating demand cheaply before heavy investment, through prototypes, landing pages, or small pilots.
  3. Explain a second lever, staged rollout, shipping to a small user segment before a full launch to catch problems early.
  4. Explain a third lever, clear kill criteria set in advance, so you know when to stop investing rather than escalating commitment.
  5. Give a brief concrete example from experience where one of these reduced real risk.
  6. Acknowledge that eliminating all risk is not the goal, since some risk taking is necessary to ship anything meaningful.
