What this question tests

Applied product sense on something personal and everyday, showing critical thinking extends beyond software.

How to approach it

  1. Pick a real, specific everyday product, for example a coffee maker, a physical planner, or a transit card system.
  2. State what you like: name the specific design choice that works well and why, for example a single-button interface reduces friction.
  3. State what you dislike: name a specific, real frustration, not a generic complaint.
  4. Propose one concrete improvement targeting that frustration, with a rough mechanism for how it would work.
  5. Consider the trade-off of your fix, for example added cost or complexity versus the friction it removes.
  6. Define what 'better' would look like measurably, for example less time spent on the task or fewer repeat purchases needed.
