What this question tests

Conflict resolution skill and self awareness, judged by how the candidate handled disagreement professionally.

Set the situation, describe the specific disagreement and who was involved, briefly and factually.
State the task, what needed to be resolved and why it mattered to the team or product.
Describe the action, how the conversation was approached, seeking to understand the other person's reasoning before pushing back.
Show the specific method used to de escalate or find common ground, not just saying we talked it out.
State the result, how the relationship and the actual decision landed afterward.

Picks a real, specific disagreement, for example a manager wanting to cut a feature the candidate believed was critical.
Shows genuine perspective taking, asking what data or pressure was driving the other view before responding.
Ends with a result showing growth or a working relationship repaired, not just being proven right.

Blaming the other person entirely with no self reflection.
Picking a trivial disagreement that does not show real conflict resolution skill.
