What is Tough Tongue AI?

Tough Tongue AI calls itself "a safe space for difficult conversations" and lets companies build live AI agents that run on phone calls, Google Meet, Zoom or inside their own products. Its listed use cases include sales coaching, negotiation, AI interviewing, interview prep, teacher training, leadership development and customer service. It lists users from Google, Northwestern Kellogg, Freshworks, MongoDB, Samsung and Databricks, and says it was #1 Product of the Day on Product Hunt.

For product managers it runs a separate site, pminterviewai.com, which says it was created by former Google PMs. That PM track covers product design, strategy, analytics, execution and behavioral questions, and its interviewer can use Google Slides, draw diagrams and whiteboard with you. Its AppSumo listing gives a founding date of February 8, 2025 and a pre-seed stage.

So the honest framing is: a well-built multimodal roleplay engine, with PM interviews as one of many scenarios.

How AllthingsPM does this: everything on AllthingsPM exists for one job, getting a product manager hired. The practice screen, the question bank, the AI PM course and the jobs catalog all point at the same PM loop, so nothing you pay for is built for sales reps or teachers.

Which one builds interviews for the job you want?

AllthingsPM. A Growth PM loop and an AI safety PM loop test different things, and the job description is the best public clue to which. Generic company scenarios cannot know what your posting asks for.

Paste any posting into the JD mock, or pick one of the 116 live roles in our jobs catalog, and the AI interviewer shapes the interview to that role's responsibilities and seniority, follows up, and scores you. Each catalog role, such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic, has its own mock and a resume check against the same JD.

The AllthingsPM page for Anthropic's Product Manager, Growth role, with Start a mock interview, Check your resume fit and Anthropic interview questions buttons next to the job description
AllthingsPM jobs catalog: each live role has its own mock interview, September 2026

Tough Tongue AI's PM site describes handcrafted scenarios from Google, Meta, Amazon and Microsoft. Its platform lets businesses build custom scenarios from documents and recordings, but that sits in its team plans (Business at $299 a month includes 15 custom scenarios). We did not find a PM candidate flow that turns a pasted job description into a mock.

We explain why JD-based practice matters in our guide to mock interviews from any job description.

How AllthingsPM does this: the JD mock reads the posting, picks the question types that role will stress, and asks follow-ups tied to its responsibilities. It is free once a day, and unlimited on the paid plan.

How do the AI interviewers compare?

Both follow up on what you actually said rather than grading a monologue, and both end with structured feedback. Tough Tongue AI says it scores competencies such as Product Sense, Analytical Thinking and Communication, and its broader platform scores delivery: vocal authority, pacing, clarity and presence.

The differences:

  • What shapes the interview. On AllthingsPM, the question or job description you choose. On Tough Tongue AI, a scenario from its PM collection.
  • Visual aids. Tough Tongue AI's interviewer can put up slides, draw diagrams and whiteboard. That is a genuine strength for product design rounds where you sketch a user flow.
  • Answer mode. AllthingsPM runs one session screen where you can type or speak and switch at any point, useful when you want to draft a metrics tree in text and then defend it out loud.
  • What happens after. On AllthingsPM every question has its own page with a written answer guide, so each rep ends with a model answer to compare against.

We have not run both on the same answer, so we will not claim ours scores more accurately. The simple test is to spend your free daily JD mock on a role you are applying to and see how much of the feedback you can use.

How AllthingsPM does this: start from any of the 4,122 pages in the question bank, for example Google PM interview questions, answer out loud in practice, get follow-ups and a score, then read the guide on the same page.

Prices checked September 29, 2026. Tough Tongue AI's pricing page says paid tiers guarantee a 15 minute session and free sessions typically last 10 to 12 minutes. It also sold a lifetime deal on AppSumo from $69.

Bar chart of yearly and monthly cost, AllthingsPM first and highlighted: AllthingsPM $120 a year with unlimited mocks and course, Tough Tongue AI $240 for twelve months of the 150 minute Starter plan; one month is $20 on both
AllthingsPM costs half as much as Tough Tongue AI Starter over a year, with unlimited mocks. Sources: allthingspm.app/pricing and toughtongueai.com/pricing, September 2026

What that means in practice:

  • Heavy practice favours AllthingsPM. 150 minutes is about five 30 minute mocks a month. Candidates in a real loop often want a mock a day, and AllthingsPM does not count minutes.
  • A year costs half as much on AllthingsPM ($120 against $240), and ours includes the course and resume tools.
  • The free tiers differ in kind. Tough Tongue AI's 25 minutes are one-time; AllthingsPM's free JD mock resets every day.

How AllthingsPM does this: one flat subscription covers mocks, the whole AI PM course, unlimited resume reviews and the library. Try the free tier first, then check pricing once the daily JD mock has shown you it helps.

Which is better for AI PM roles?

AllthingsPM, clearly. AI company loops increasingly test evals, model tradeoffs, agent failure modes and AI product metrics. Our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings and is updated weekly. Lessons such as the AI product sense and execution rounds and product sense under ambiguity teach the skills, and the knowledge graph maps how the concepts connect.

Then you rehearse on real roles. Our question bank has hubs for AI labs such as Anthropic and Google DeepMind, and the jobs catalog lists live PM roles at 18 AI companies, each with a mock. Tough Tongue AI's PM collection centres on Google, Meta, Amazon and Microsoft, and it does not offer a course.

For what AI lab loops test, see our AI product sense framework and Google PM interview guide.

How AllthingsPM does this: learn a concept in the course, answer a matching question from the bank out loud, then run a JD mock on a live AI role. The three are linked, so you move from lesson to rehearsal without leaving the platform.

Does practising with an AI interviewer actually help?

Yes, if you do enough of it. Learning research backs retrieval practice: Roediger and Karpicke (2006) found that students who tested themselves remembered more a week later than those who re-read the material. Answering out loud to an interviewer that pushes back is a form of that testing, and volume matters. That is exactly where per-minute billing hurts, and where a flat plan helps.

How AllthingsPM does this: there is no meter, so you can run a mock every morning of your loop. Pair it with the JD resume review so the stories you rehearse match what your resume claims.

A 5 day plan with AllthingsPM for one real role

  1. Day 1: resume first. Run the free JD resume review against your target posting. Note the two or three responsibilities your resume does not yet prove.
  2. Day 2: first JD mock. Paste the posting into the JD mock, answer by voice, and save the follow-ups that caught you out.
  3. Day 3: learn the gaps. AI specific gaps go to the matching course lesson; core PM gaps go to the company hub answer guides in the question bank.
  4. Day 4: drill. Answer five questions from that company's hub out loud in practice before reading each guide.
  5. Day 5: second JD mock. Same posting, new session. Compare the follow-ups with Day 2, then use Resume Job Match to find two similar roles.

All of this fits in the free plan. On Tough Tongue AI's free tier, the 25 one-time minutes would cover roughly the first mock.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for PM mock interviews

The decision comes down to what you are preparing for. If it is a product manager interview, AllthingsPM fits better on every point we could check:

  • Built only for PMs. Every feature serves the PM loop, from the course to the question bank.
  • Unlimited practice. $20 a month or $120 a year with no minute meter, against Tough Tongue AI's 150 minutes for $20.
  • It starts from your role. Mocks built from any pasted job description, plus 116 live AI company roles with their own mocks.
  • Every question has an answer guide. 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each on its own page.
  • Your application, end to end. Resume review against the JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries, podcast summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
