Analytical rigor in real decision-making, checking the story shows genuine data-driven reasoning, not a retrofit.

Situation: briefly set up the decision context and why data was needed rather than intuition alone.
Task: state what question the data needed to answer.
Action: describe what data you pulled or analysis you ran, being specific about the method, such as a cohort comparison or funnel breakdown.
Action: state the conclusion the data pointed to, and how it differed from or confirmed your initial assumption.
Result: describe the decision made and the outcome, ideally with a concrete metric change.
Result: note if the conclusion surprised you, since that is often the most convincing part of a data story.

Names a specific analytical method, like a cohort or funnel analysis, rather than vaguely saying 'I looked at the data'.
Shows the data changed or refined the initial assumption, which is more convincing than data simply confirming what was already believed.
States a concrete outcome metric tied to the decision, even if framed as an approximate recollection.
Reflects on why this data-driven approach mattered, reinforcing a repeatable habit rather than a one-off.

Describing a decision where data was consulted superficially but didn't actually change anything.
Being vague about what data or method was used.
