Product design question
You are the PM of an OTT service provider (over the top service provider just like Netflix and Hotstar). How would you go about identifying the product improvements required? Explain the thought process to prioritise the features to make it rank better on user experiences.

What this question tests
Tests structured prioritization methodology for improving a streaming product, not just a list of feature ideas.
How to approach it
- Start with data: churn reasons from exit surveys, content engagement drop-off points, and app store review themes to surface real pain points.
- Group findings into buckets: content discovery, playback quality and buffering, and personalization or recommendation relevance.
- Score each opportunity by expected impact, users affected times likely retention or engagement lift, against estimated engineering effort.
- Prioritize using an impact-versus-effort framework, tackling high-impact, lower-effort fixes like buffering or discovery UX before large bets like new content verticals.
- Define success per improvement with its own metric, buffering fixes measured by reduced rebuffering rate, discovery fixes measured by browse-to-play conversion.
What a strong answer includes
- Grounds prioritization in real data sources, exit surveys and drop-off points, instead of opinion-based feature brainstorming.
- Applies an explicit impact-versus-effort framework rather than a flat, unranked list of ideas.
- Assigns a specific, relevant metric to each improvement area instead of one generic user-experience score.
Common mistakes
- Listing feature ideas without any data-driven prioritization framework behind them.
- Using one generic metric for every improvement instead of tailoring metrics to each specific problem.
Likely follow-up questions
- Which single improvement would you tackle first with a limited quarter of engineering time?
- How would you validate that a fix actually improved user experience after shipping it?
