Short answer: Product Gym is a real company that has helped some people land PM jobs, so it is not a scam in the strict sense. But it costs $6,000 on the bootcamp listings we checked, its near perfect ratings sit next to a detailed Reddit account saying members had to submit 5-star reviews before getting offer help, and Reddit opinion is split. For most candidates, AllthingsPM is the safer buy: scored AI mock interviews built from any job description, 4,122 real questions with answer guides and an AI PM course, for $120 a year, with a free tier you can try today.
AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Product Gym facts below come from Course Report, SwitchUp and Career Karma listings, checked September 29, 2026, and from public threads on Reddit and Blind. Product Gym's own site (productgym.io) returned a server error each time we tried it that day, so we quote its listed price from those review sites.

Is Product Gym legit or a scam?
Legit, in the sense that it exists, delivers a program and has members who report jobs afterwards. A Blind member who took it in 2021 described it as self paced with cycled live classes, and confirmed it includes resume reviews and mock interviews, adding "more importantly they teach you how to help yourself with those."
On Reddit, one 2021 reply said "nearly all of the people that joined the month before and the month after me, all got PM jobs." Another member edited their post to report "Landed 2 PM offers and expecting another one this week."
So "scam" is the wrong word. The better question is whether $6,000 is a fair price for what you get, and whether the public ratings tell you anything. Those are the two questions the rest of this review answers.
How AllthingsPM does this: you do not need to decide on trust. Open the question bank, pick a question for the company you want, read the answer guide, then answer it out loud in a mock interview. You will know within one session whether the feedback helps you.
Why do Product Gym's ratings look so high?
Product Gym's numbers on review sites are remarkable. Course Report shows 4.95 out of 5 from 394 reviews, with 379 five-star ratings. SwitchUp shows 4.96 from 471 reviews. Career Karma shows 4.9 from 198.
Reddit users noticed. The title of a 2021 thread reads: "Anyone have experiences with Product Gym? The overwhelming positive reviews online are a bit sketchy." Its author wrote that it was "hard to believe all the paragraph length reviews that mention the same points are real."
The most specific account is a 2022 post titled "A Rare Real Review of Product Gym." Its author says they did get a PM job at a higher salary than expected, but that near the end of the career acceleration section "you are required to provide evidence that you've submitted several 5-star reviews on Switchup, Course Report, etc. before they will help you to evaluate and negotiate any offers." They called it "next-level dubious." That is one member's account, and we could not verify it with Product Gym, whose site did not load.
Why it matters: since October 21, 2024, the US FTC rule on consumer reviews bans offering compensation or incentives conditioned on reviews expressing a particular sentiment. Whether or not the practice described in 2022 still exists, it is a good reason to read bootcamp star ratings as marketing, not evidence.
How AllthingsPM does this: we ask you to trust your own score, not our stars. Every mock ends with a rubric score and specific follow-up gaps, so you can see progress across sessions on the same job description instead of reading about someone else's.
What does Reddit say about Product Gym?
Across the r/ProductManagement threads we read, from 2021 to 2025, the views fall into three groups.
It worked for me, if you work hard. A 2023 reply said: "If you are dead serious and committed to finding a PM job, I would say, totally worth it as I took the program and worked for me." The Blind member put it the same way: results depend on how much you prioritise it.
It is too expensive for what it is. The same 2023 reply added: "If you are looking for general product management knowledge and exploring the field. I wouldn't recommend it. There are cheaper options." The 2022 reviewer wrote that "some of the offering is valuable, but a lot of it isn't when you consider the price," and that they ended up running their interview and negotiation process on their own.
Sales tactics raised trust concerns. One 2021 reply said many "Live" webinars were "just recordings with fake/boosted viewer numbers." Another, positive overall, still described a "used car salesperson type of sales strategy." A December 2025 post described an in-person event hosted by the founder as "a giant sales pitch for his course," with fewer speakers than advertised.
The pattern: people who got jobs credit the structure, the community and their own effort. The doubts are about price, the reviews and the selling. Very little of the praise is about anything a $6,000 program uniquely provides.
How AllthingsPM does this: the part members credit most, disciplined practice with feedback, is what AllthingsPM is built around. You can run a JD mock every day, study the gaps in the AI PM course, and repeat, for $20 a month.
How much does Product Gym cost in 2026?
The Product Management program is listed at $6,000 on Course Report, SwitchUp and Career Karma, checked September 29, 2026. Course Report also lists a QA Engineering (SDET) track at $5,500. Career Karma lists payment options as "Upfront Payments, Month-to-month Installments."
Older third party write-ups quote $7,000 and income share agreements, where you pay a share of your salary after landing a job. We could not confirm any current ISA terms, so if Product Gym offers you one, get the percentage, the minimum salary, the length and the cap in writing before signing.
The listed program length also varies: 6 weeks on SwitchUp and Career Karma, 10 weeks on Course Report. Ask which one applies to you, and what support continues after it ends.
For comparison, $6,000 buys 50 years of AllthingsPM at the yearly price. Even the monthly plan, used for a three month job search, is $60.
How AllthingsPM does this: there is one price for everything, published on the pricing page: $20 a month or $120 a year, with a free tier that includes one JD mock and one JD resume review a day. No sales call is needed to find out what it costs.
What does Product Gym do well?
Fairly stated: Product Gym offers human coaching and a peer community, and for career switchers who struggle to stay accountable, that structure can matter. Members credit coaches for resume and LinkedIn help, and name mock interview partners as a motivator. Several reviewers report offers during hard hiring markets.
If accountability is your problem, AllthingsPM handles it differently: a daily habit that takes 20 minutes, a score you can watch improve, and a clear next lesson. You get the structure without a $6,000 commitment.
How AllthingsPM does this: start with resume review against a JD on a posting you want, then a JD mock on the same posting, then the course lesson on the product sense round. Repeat the mock a week later and compare scores.
Where does Product Gym fall short for candidates in 2026?
Four gaps matter now.
1. Price against outcome. $6,000 is a lot to pay when, by members' own accounts, the result depends mostly on your own effort. Nothing we found guarantees a job.
2. Reviews you cannot lean on. With near perfect ratings and a detailed report of reviews being required, public stars are weak evidence either way.
3. Fit for experienced switchers only. The Blind member was blunt about career changers from unrelated fields: "You can't... You have to have worked in a position where you have performed pm duties." If that is you, a costly program will not change it.
4. AI PM roles. Hiring has moved toward AI products, and loops at AI companies test evals, model tradeoffs and agent failures. None of the Product Gym listings we found mention AI PM content.
How AllthingsPM does this: our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings, and our jobs catalog lists 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, each with a mock built from its description. The knowledge graph shows how AI PM concepts connect.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for PM job prep
A Product Gym review comes down to one question: what are you actually paying for? Members who got jobs credit structure, feedback on their answers and their own consistency. Those are the things AllthingsPM gives you every day, at a price that does not need a sales call or a financing plan.
- Scored practice on demand, by voice or text, with follow-ups, on any of 4,122 real questions from 260 companies.
- Mocks from any job description, so you rehearse the role you are applying for.
- An AI PM course of 14 chapters and 101 lessons, built from 604 real job postings and updated weekly.
- The whole search in one place: resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 116 live AI company roles, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
- $120 a year, or free to start, against a $6,000 listing.
Product Gym's real strength is human coaching and a community, and some members credit it with offers. But you can get the practice that decides interviews for about 2% of the price, judge it on your own answers first, and never wonder whether the reviews are real. Our verdict: for most PM candidates, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start a free mock interview or see pricing.
Start today, free: paste the job description you most want into the JD mock. After one session you will know exactly which follow-ups to prepare for. No card needed.
