Is Product School Worth It? A 2026 Review With Real Costs, and Why AllthingsPM Costs Less

Product School is worth it mainly when your employer pays: it costs $2,999 for one live certification and $3,999 to $4,999 a year for memberships. For self-funded learners, AllthingsPM gives an AI PM course built from 604 real job postings plus mock interviews from any job description for $120 a year.

A certificate and a skill are two different purchases.

Short answer: Product School is worth it if your employer pays and you want a live, instructor-led class and an alumni network. For most people paying their own way, it is not the best value. Product School charges $2,999 for one live certification, $3,999 a year for Pro and $4,999 a year for Unlimited [1]. AllthingsPM costs $120 a year (or $20 a month) with a free tier, and gives you an AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings plus mock interviews generated from the exact job description you are applying to [2].

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Prices below were checked on 26 September 2026 on each vendor's own page.

What does Product School actually cost in 2026?

Product School lists three individual plans on its pricing page [1]:

  • Single Certification, $2,999: one live, instructor-led certification course.
  • Pro Membership, $3,999 a year: two live certification courses, weekly live AI workshops, on-demand content and alumni community access.
  • Unlimited Membership, $4,999 a year: ten live certification courses, the same workshops and community, newly released courses, access to more than $50,000 in AI tools and a ticket to one ProductCon conference.

It also mentions upfront payment discounts, regional installment plans, employer sponsorship and a 10% group discount on single certifications for teams of 3 to 10 [1]. On refunds, Product School says you can cancel a membership any time and keep access until the end of the billing period, and that it refunds "in certain cases", such as cancelling shortly after joining without having accessed course materials [1].

The certifications named include AI Product Management, Claude Code for PMs, Product Analytics and Experimentation, and Product Leadership [1][3].

How AllthingsPM does this: there is one paid plan at $20 a month or $120 a year, and the free tier lets you try the course, the question bank and a daily JD mock before you pay anything. You can see every price on one page and cancel whenever you like.

What do you get for $2,999?

The core purchase is a live cohort. An independent review by Uxcel describes the single certification as about 30 hours of live teaching over roughly six weeks, part-time, on Zoom, with about 20 students per class, and works out the price as "roughly $100 per hour" [4]. Product School's own page does not state hours, so treat those as Uxcel's figures.

What you get for the money:

  • Live instructors. Uxcel lists instructors from Google, Meta, Netflix, Airbnb, Uber and Amazon [4].
  • A certificate to show on LinkedIn.
  • Community. Course Report describes Product School's community as "over two million product professionals" [7].
  • Accountability. A fixed schedule helps busy people finish.

What you do not get, based on the pricing page: interview practice built from a specific job posting, a bank of real company interview questions, or resume review against a role [1].

How AllthingsPM does this: the AI PM course is 14 chapters and 101 lessons with 14 graded case studies, and it was built by reading 604 real PM job postings to see what employers ask for. You work through it on your own schedule, and the Get the job chapter walks through the AI PM interview loop.

Is the Product School certificate respected by employers?

This is the question people ask most on Reddit before paying, and the answers are blunt.

In one r/ProductManagement thread, a commenter says employers "don't really care" about PM courses and look at two things: relevant experience and whether you can "pass the case study" [5]. Another adds that the only certifications worth pursuing are ones "your employer is willing to sponsor" [5]. In a separate thread, one PM writes that "few employers will be impressed by a certificate program" [6], and an alumnus in a third thread calls the Product School certification "very overpriced" [8].

Not everyone agrees. Some commenters say a course can help if you have no other experience and are pivoting into product [8]. Course Report shows an average of 4.8 out of 5 across 220 published reviews [7], and Uxcel cites ratings of 4.76 to 4.8 across platforms [4]. Product School itself says alumni report an average salary increase of $15,045 after certifying [1]. That is Product School's own figure from its own alumni, not an independent study. Uxcel also notes that Product School does not publish a placement rate [4].

The pattern: students often like the class; hiring managers rarely hire for the certificate. What gets you the offer is doing well in the interview.

How AllthingsPM does this: we skip the certificate and put the money where the hiring decision happens. Paste any posting into the JD mock and an AI interviewer builds the interview from that role, asks follow-ups, and scores you, by voice or text.

Who is Product School worth it for?

Based on its pricing and the reviews above, Product School makes most sense when:

  1. Your employer pays. Product School lists employer sponsorship as a payment option [1], and Reddit commenters consistently say sponsored certification is the case where it pays off [5].
  2. You want live teaching. If you learn best in a scheduled class with an instructor, a cohort gives you that.
  3. You are moving into PM inside your own company. Uxcel names internal transitions as a strength [4].
  4. You value the network and events. Unlimited includes a ProductCon ticket [1].

It is harder to justify if you are paying yourself, switching careers without a warm path, or already know the basics and mainly need to pass interviews.

How AllthingsPM does this: for career switchers, the fastest proof is a portfolio and a strong interview. Browse 455 PM portfolios to see how successful candidates present their work, then rehearse with mocks built from the roles you want.

What should you buy instead if you pay yourself?

A four-week plan inside AllthingsPM:

  1. Week 1: open the Foundations chapter and one lesson a day.
  2. Week 2: pick a target role from the jobs catalog, such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic, and run your first JD mock on it.
  3. Week 3: drill five questions from that company's hub, like the Anthropic PM interview questions, out loud before reading the answer guide.
  4. Week 4: check your resume against the same posting with resume review, then run a second mock and compare scores.

How AllthingsPM does this: every piece above is one subscription and one login, so the course lesson, the question, the mock and the resume check all point at the same target role.

Is Product School's AI Product Management certification worth it?

Product School lists AI Product Management and Claude Code for PMs among its certifications [1][3], so it is keeping up with the AI PM shift. The catch is the same as for any cohort: you pay for a fixed syllabus taught live, and its pricing page does not describe interview practice tied to AI company roles [1].

AI PM hiring moves fast. Our AI PM course is built from 604 real PM job postings and updated weekly, so topics like evals, agents and AI UX follow what employers are actually posting. Our guide to becoming an AI product manager covers the full path.

How AllthingsPM does this: each of the 116 live roles in the jobs catalog, from AI companies like Anthropic, has its own mock interview, so you can practise for the exact AI PM job you want, not a generic one.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for learning PM without Product School's price

Product School is a real company with a real product. It has live instructors, a large community and conferences [1][4][7], and when an employer is paying, those are worth having.

But the decision most readers face is different: "I am paying myself. What gets me hired?" On that question, AllthingsPM wins on the facts:

  • Price. $120 a year against $2,999 for one certification [1]. You could pay for AllthingsPM for about 25 years for the cost of one Product School course.
  • What employers test. Hiring managers point to the case interview, not certificates [5][6]. AllthingsPM puts mocks built from any job description at the centre.
  • Relevance. The course comes from 604 real PM job postings and updates weekly.
  • Breadth. 4,122 real questions with answer guides from 260 companies, resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios, all in one plan.
  • Risk. You can start free and decide after you have used it.

Product School's edge is live teaching and a certificate. If your employer sponsors it, take it and practise your interviews on AllthingsPM alongside. If you are paying yourself, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start the AI PM course free.
