Short answer: the Product Faculty AI Product Management Certification is not $1,995 anymore. That was the fee reported in 2025, when Miqdad Jaffer of OpenAI taught it. On Maven today the certification lists at $5,000 for a live cohort taught by Rohan Varma, with six bonus live certifications bundled in. It is a well rated program (4.7 out of 5 from 1,487 Maven reviews), and worth it mainly if your employer pays. If you are paying yourself and the goal is an AI PM job, AllthingsPM gets you further for less: an AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings plus mock interviews built from any job description, for $120 a year with a free tier.
AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Every Product Faculty fact below comes from its own site and its Maven page, checked on September 28, 2026.

Is the Product Faculty AI PM certification still $1,995?
No. The $1,995 figure comes from 2025 write-ups, such as a widely shared guide to generative AI PM certifications that listed a "$1,995" fee, "17 hours live content" and a "6-9 week cohort" led by "OpenAI's Enterprise Product Leader Miqdad Jaffer". That guide also mentioned 3 live interactive sessions, 26 lessons and a capstone.
On September 28, 2026 the Maven page shows a different product:
- $5,000, titled "AI Product Management Certification Plus 6 More Live Certifications Included".
- Rohan Varma as the instructor, described as Product Lead, Codex at OpenAI and the first PM at Cursor.
- A cohort from September 14 to October 20, 2026.
- 4 to 6 hours a week: 1 to 3 hours live, 2 to 4 hours of projects, 1 to 2 hours of async content.
- Six bonus live certifications, which the page values at $26,495.
Product Faculty's own site also sells an AI Builder Fellowship at $5,000 a year, which includes "all 8 live, instructor-led certification courses", weekly live workshops and free cohort retakes, with interest-free payment plans.
So anyone searching "is it worth $1,995" is asking about a price that no longer exists. The real question now is whether it is worth $5,000.
How AllthingsPM does this: one plan at $120 a year, shown in rupees for India at INR 8,400, covers the whole AI PM course, unlimited mock interviews and the resume tools. Nothing is sold as a bundle add-on. Check pricing after a free mock has shown you whether it helps.
What do you actually get for the money?
Based on the Maven page and productfaculty.com, the current certification includes:
- Live teaching. Six weeks of interactive sessions, according to Product Faculty's site, with direct instructor access.
- Applied AI labs. Exercises with "unlimited build support", plus office hours.
- A capstone and Demo Day. Product Faculty says flagship certifications end in a capstone: a working AI product with a demo video and an AI PRD.
- Six bonus certifications. Agentic Engineering, AI Evals, AI Product Leadership, AI-Native PM with Claude, Nailing AI/PM Interviews and AI Product Strategy.
- Lifetime access to content and recordings, a peer community and a certificate of completion.
- Employer reimbursement support and a 14 day refund window from the start of your first cohort, per Product Faculty's site.
That is a lot of live content. The instructor roster on productfaculty.com is strong too, listing people with titles at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Uber.
The honest limit is what is not on the page: mock interviews built from the job you are applying to, a catalog of live AI PM roles, or a resume review against a posting. Those are the steps where candidates tend to lose offers.
How AllthingsPM does this: chapters such as Evals, Agents and agentic architecture and The AI PRD cover the same ground as several bonus certifications, and each chapter ends in a graded build set, so you finish with 14 pieces of work, not one capstone.
What do reviews say about Product Faculty?
The ratings are genuinely high. The Maven page shows 4.7 out of 5 from 1,487 reviews, and Product Faculty's reviews page calls it "the #1 AI course on Maven, and the only Maven course with 1,000+ reviews". The same page claims "4,000+ certified graduates", while the certification page cites "100,000+ Product Faculty graduates" across its programs.
Two caveats before you lean on those numbers:
- The instructor changed. Many of those reviews were written about cohorts that Miqdad Jaffer taught. The current listing names Rohan Varma. Both are OpenAI product leaders, but a review of one cohort is not a review of the next.
- Ratings measure the class, not the outcome. A 4.7 says students enjoyed the teaching. It does not tell you how many got an AI PM offer afterwards, and we found no published placement numbers.
A related Maven course, Rohan Varma and Henry Shi's AI Product Management Course, is rated 4.6 from 165 reviews, which suggests the teaching quality carries across.
How AllthingsPM does this: instead of trusting a rating, test it yourself for free. Paste a real posting into the JD mock, answer out loud, and read the score and follow-ups. One session tells you whether the practice is useful before you pay anything.
Is an AI PM certification worth it for getting hired?
It helps you learn; the certificate rarely decides a hire. When we read 389 current product manager job postings at 86 companies for our AI PM certification guide, none required an AI PM or product management certificate. Postings ask for shipped work, judgment, and skills like evals, agents, metrics and working with engineers.
That does not make a cohort useless. Live sessions, a deadline and a peer group are real reasons people finish. But for $5,000, you should be clear about what you are buying:
- Worth it if your employer pays, you learn best live, and you want a capstone built with support.
- Harder to justify if you are paying out of pocket, you are job hunting now, or you need interview practice more than lectures.
Our state of AI PM hiring report and what AI PM courses teach vs what AI PM jobs want show where most syllabi drift from what postings ask for.
How AllthingsPM does this: run a resume review against the JD to see which requirements your resume does not prove yet, study those gaps in the course, then rehearse them in a JD mock. The free plan includes one resume review and one JD mock a day.
What will AI PM interviews ask that a certificate cannot prove?
AI company loops mix classic product sense and metrics rounds with AI specific ones: how to evaluate a model change, when to ship an agent, how to price an AI feature. Real examples from our question bank:
- Offline evals show strong SWE-bench style gains, but internal dogfooders say the model feels worse.
- What evaluation metrics can be used to judge LLM generation quality in your AI products?
- How would you drive adoption of Glean Agents beyond search?
No certificate answers those for you in the room. What does is having said a good answer out loud several times, with someone pushing back. Each question above has its own page and answer guide, and companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic have their own hubs.
How AllthingsPM does this: answer any of the 4,122 questions in practice and get follow-ups and a score, or open a live role from the jobs catalog, such as Product Manager, API Agents at OpenAI, and run a mock built from that exact posting.
How does the real cost compare?
The list prices: AllthingsPM is $120 a year; the Product Faculty certification is $5,000 per cohort; the Fellowship is $5,000 a year. Four things change what you actually pay:
- Employer budgets. Both Maven and Product Faculty offer reimbursement support. If your company pays, the price question mostly disappears.
- Refund windows. Maven's guarantee gives a full refund through the end of week 2 for courses of four weeks or longer; Product Faculty's site describes a 14 day window from the start of your first cohort.
- What happens after. Recordings are lifetime, but they are frozen. The AllthingsPM course page showed 11 lessons updated and 7 concepts added in its 22 September 2026 update.
- Currency. For readers in India, $5,000 is a very large sum; AllthingsPM prices in rupees at INR 8,400 a year.
For the wider market, our PM education price index compares ten programs, and best AI product manager certifications lists the cheaper credentials.
How AllthingsPM does this: one account connects the course, the question bank, the jobs catalog and the resume tools, so a topic you study today becomes a question you practice today. Use Resume Job Match to find postings that fit, and our book summaries when you want the frameworks behind a lesson.
Can you combine Product Faculty with AllthingsPM?
Yes, and if your employer pays for the cohort it is a sensible setup:
- Before: take the free first lessons of the AI PM course and browse the knowledge graph so live sessions build on something.
- During: after each week's topic, answer two related questions in practice to turn lectures into spoken answers.
- After: point your capstone at real roles, review your resume against each JD, and run a JD mock before every interview. Look at the 455 PM portfolios we collected to see how PMs present that kind of work.
If nobody is paying, start with AllthingsPM alone. You get the curriculum, the practice and the job tools for about 2.4% of the cohort price.
Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for an AI product management certification path
People search for an AI product management certification by Product Faculty because they want an AI PM job, or a better one. Judged on that goal, AllthingsPM fits better on every point we could check:
- It teaches what postings ask for. A 14 chapter, 101 lesson AI PM course with 14 graded case studies, built from 604 real PM job postings and updated weekly.
- It rehearses the real interview. Mocks built from any job description, text or voice, with follow-ups and a score. Only 4 tools we found build mocks from a job description, and AllthingsPM is the only one that also has a course, a question bank and live JDs.
- It covers the application. 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies with their own mocks, resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
- It costs $120 a year, against $5,000 for the certification today, and you can start free instead of waiting for a cohort.
Product Faculty has real strengths: a current OpenAI product leader teaching live, a large peer group, a high Maven rating and a big bundle of extra certifications. If your employer pays and you want a live class, it is a good program. But the certificate is not what postings ask for; skills and interview reps are. Our verdict: for most people chasing AI PM roles, AllthingsPM is the better use of the money. Open the AI PM course or compare plans.
Start today, free: open the first lesson of the AI PM course, then paste the job you want into the JD mock. One session shows you what the interviewer will push on and what to study next.
