What this question tests

Decision-making process under ambiguity, told as a STAR story.

Pick a real situation with genuinely competing viable options, not an obvious one.
State the situation and task clearly, e.g. two technically valid approaches with different tradeoffs.
Describe the action: how you evaluated options, e.g. weighing effort versus impact versus risk, and who you consulted.
Describe the decision made and why, showing clear reasoning not a coin flip.
State the result, ideally with a measurable outcome.
Note what you'd do differently in hindsight.

Picks a story where the options were genuinely close calls, not a case with one obviously correct answer.
Shows a concrete evaluation method, e.g. a simple cost and impact comparison, rather than 'I just decided'.
Names who was consulted and how disagreement was resolved.
Ends with a measurable result and an honest reflection on what they'd reconsider.

Choosing an example where one option was obviously correct, undermining the premise.
Skipping the decision criteria and jumping straight to the outcome.
