What this question tests

Whether the candidate can show a genuine, constructive reaction to criticism rather than defensiveness or false modesty.

Situation: briefly set the context for when and from whom the feedback came, keeping it specific and low on blame.
Task: state the feedback plainly, without minimizing it, so the interviewer understands it was genuinely hard to hear.
Action: describe your immediate reaction honestly, including any initial defensiveness, then what shifted your perspective.
Describe the concrete change you made as a result, distinct from just feeling bad about it.
Result: state what changed afterward, ideally with a specific, observable outcome or a later compliment on the same area.

Admits an honest, human initial reaction (defensiveness, surprise) rather than claiming instant acceptance.
Describes a specific, concrete behavior change rather than a vague 'I try to do better now'.
Closes with evidence the change actually worked, not just that it was attempted.

Claiming to have taken the feedback perfectly in stride with no real emotional reaction.
Describing feedback that isn't actually harsh or meaningful.
