Most Sierra PM roles are built around one customer and one agent.

A Sierra product manager is, in most cases, an Agent PM: a senior PM who sits with one enterprise customer and ships the AI agent that answers that customer's support conversations. AllthingsPM holds 18 Sierra PM job descriptions in its jobs catalog, and each one has a scored mock interview built from its own text, which is the fastest way to rehearse for a specific Sierra role. Of the 18, 13 are Agent Development roles (7 of them tied to a second language), and 5 are platform roles (Agent Studio, Voice, Ghostwriter, Agent SDK, Agent Data Platform). Most ask for 5 to 7+ years, customer demos and some React, TypeScript and Go.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Below is what every posting says, what it pays where Sierra publishes pay, and how to prepare.

How did we read Sierra's PM job descriptions?

We pulled every Sierra posting from the AllthingsPM jobs catalog on 28 September 2026. The catalog read them from Sierra's Ashby job board on 22 September. We cut the boilerplate all 18 share (the About Us block, values, benefits and equal opportunity text) and counted what is left: years, level, languages, code, customer work and AI skills.

The same day we checked Sierra's live board through Ashby's public job API [1]. It listed 14 PM roles: 13 of our 18, plus a Product Manager, Infrastructure role we do not yet hold. The five platform roles (Agent Studio, Voice, Ghostwriter, Agent SDK, Agent Data Platform) had come down. We kept them, because they show what Sierra hires for outside Agent Development, and they remain good practice targets.

How AllthingsPM does this. Every row in the next table is a page in our jobs catalog with the full posting and a Start mock button. The mock asks questions drawn from that posting's own requirements, follows up, and scores you, in text or voice. You do not paste or prompt anything.

What PM roles is Sierra hiring for?

All 18, with location, the years each posting names, and the pay Sierra's live board showed on 28 September 2026. Roles no longer on the board show no pay because we only report pay we saw.

Pay from Sierra's public Ashby board, 28 September 2026 [1]. Families are our grouping, not Sierra's.

What does a Sierra Agent PM actually do?

The Agent Development postings share one core. "As an Agent PM at Sierra, you will be responsible for partnering directly with our engineers and customers to build and ship AI agents that handle thousands of customer conversations a day" [2]. Twelve of the 18 postings use that line.

The customer work is spelled out in five bullets that repeat across the family: discover and assess requirements, prepare and present demonstrations of Sierra's agent, work through technical problems with the customer's technical team, keep improving the agent to fit the customer's business, and "become trusted advisors" who drive technical strategy. The third duty is shaping the roadmap: taking what one customer needs back to Sierra's own product and engineering teams.

Sierra describes the same job in its APX program for new graduates, which includes a 9-month Agent PM rotation. There, Agent PMs "treat each agent as a fully tailored product, customized to the customer's unique requirements and brand" [3]. So the unit of work is one agent for one company, owned from the first call to production.

This is close to what the industry now calls a forward-deployed PM. If that model is new to you, read what a forward-deployed product manager is before you apply.

How AllthingsPM does this. Chapter 10 of the AllthingsPM course, Ship it into somebody else's company, teaches this job: integrating an agent into the customer's system of record, the admin console their security team reviews, and moving from pilot to production as the PM on site.

How many years of experience does Sierra want?

Most postings name 5 to 7+ years "in product development of highly technical products" (11 of 18). Financial Services asks for 5 to 10+. The three platform roles still on our list with a number (Agent Studio, Voice, Ghostwriter) ask for 3+ years of product management. The San Francisco Spanish speaking role names 3 to 5+. Agent SDK and Agent Data Platform ask for "extensive experience" without a number.

Level matters as much as years. Thirteen postings ask for "past experience in Product Management or other similar product development roles at or above the level of Senior Product Manager". If you are a PM without the senior title, the platform roles are the more realistic door, or APX if you are a new graduate [3].

A technical degree "or equivalent professional experience" appears in 13 postings. An MBA "or equivalent professional experience" is listed as a plus in the same 13, with the note that "you will have the opportunity to lean into broader business roles".

How AllthingsPM does this. Paste your resume into the resume review against a JD with the Sierra posting you want, and it shows which lines prove "highly technical products" and senior scope, and which are missing. One review a day is free.

Do Sierra PMs need to code?

Not to get in, but it helps. The pattern is consistent: in the Agent Development postings, "Some coding experience with React, Typescript, and Go" sits under "Even better". Counting all 18, React and TypeScript appear in 15 and Go in 13.

The platform roles set a higher technical bar in the main list. Agent Studio wants the "ability to engage deeply with engineers on system design (e.g., simulation systems, evaluation frameworks, APIs, and platform architecture)". Ghostwriter wants engagement "on architecture decisions (e.g., harness design and engineering, workspace isolation, API design)". The Financial Services role asks for "a builder mindset: you prototype, investigate, and work hands-on rather than relying solely on process".

So the honest read is: expect to reason about APIs, data flows and failure modes in the interview, and expect credit for having shipped code, but a Sierra PM posting does not require you to be an engineer.

How AllthingsPM does this. The course chapter PM as builder has you prototype and inspect an agent yourself, including how to read the code you did not write: the agent loop, its calls and its config. That is the depth Sierra's system design questions probe.

What AI skills do Sierra PM job descriptions ask for?

Less jargon than you might expect. The general Agent Development postings list "AI-related experience (experience with product development for AI agents a plus)" and the ability to explain "recent AI developments" to non-technical audiences. The AI detail lives in the platform and industry roles:

  • Evaluation. Four postings name it. Agent Studio asks you to "define evaluation frameworks and feedback systems". Voice asks you to "define how we evaluate voice agents: latency, interruption handling, resolution rate, and conversation quality".
  • Simulation and testing. Agent Studio wants tools "for simulating real-world scenarios, identifying failures, and improving performance with confidence". Sierra's own Agent Development Life Cycle turns annotated conversations into regression tests through simulation [4].
  • Human in the loop. Ghostwriter, which Sierra launched in April 2026 as an agent that builds agents [5], asks for "approval flows, change review, workspace isolation" so customers trust it to change their agents.
  • Voice stack. The Voice role spans ASR, TTS, LLMs and telephony, with "latency budgets" and failure handling.
  • Retrieval and prompts. Public Sector lists "familiarity with evaluation, retrieval, prompt engineering, or agent tooling" as a plus.

How AllthingsPM does this. Our evals chapter includes a lesson on how to evaluate an agent, not an answer, with final-state checks and pass-k reliability. The agents chapter covers tools, escalation and the harness. Both map straight onto the Studio, Voice and Ghostwriter postings.

Why do seven Sierra roles require a second language?

Because Agent PMs sit with customers, and Sierra sells globally. Its careers page lists offices in San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, London, Singapore, Tokyo, Paris, Madrid and Toronto [6]. Seven postings carry a language in the title: Spanish (two), Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian and Arabic.

Five of the seven say it in the requirements: "Professional fluency in both French and English", and so on. The Italian and Arabic postings put the language only in the title; their requirement lists match the general London role. Assume you will be tested in that language anyway.

Six of the seven language roles are in London and one is in San Francisco. Both Spanish postings exist: one in London and one in San Francisco, and the San Francisco one names 3 to 5+ years instead of 5 to 7+.

How AllthingsPM does this. Our Sierra question bank includes questions like a customer says Sierra's agent performs well in English but underperforms in German, and a new German enterprise customer wants to automate support. Each has an answer guide and starts a scored mock in one click.

What do the industry team roles add?

Three Agent Development roles are tied to an industry, and each adds a domain on top of the core:

  • Financial Services asks for experience "in financial services, such as banking, fintech, lending, payments, insurance, mortgages, or wealth management", and a track record of taking products "from ambiguous customer problems through launch and meaningful scale". It says 1 in 3 of the world's leading banks use Sierra.
  • Healthcare says Sierra's healthcare agents "already reach over 50% of U.S. families", and lists HIPAA and PHI handling as a plus. Its example projects include intake forms turned into conversations and benefits questions like "what's my co-pay for a primary care visit?"
  • Public Sector is a founding team, formed after Sierra received FedRAMP High certification, which Sierra announced in June 2026 [7]. It asks for "a passion for public sector work" and, as a plus, knowledge of procurement, regulation, security and accessibility.

These are company statements in the postings, not figures we checked independently.

How AllthingsPM does this. Each of the three has its own mock on AllthingsPM, so a fintech PM can rehearse against the Financial Services posting rather than a generic Sierra loop. Use Resume Job Match to see how your resume scores across all of them at once.

How should you prepare for a Sierra PM interview?

Map your prep to what the postings repeat most:

  1. Customer demo and discovery. Thirteen postings ask for demos and 13 for tailoring a message to executives. Practice running a discovery call and a 30 minute demo out loud. Our question on demoing Sierra to a VP of Support, a CIO and a solutions architect is a good rep.
  2. Agent design. Be ready to design an agent for one company: its journeys, escalation logic, integrations and failure modes.
  3. Metrics and ROI. Sierra's customers buy outcomes. Practice what metrics prove ROI to a Fortune 500 company deploying Sierra and how to design and defend outcome-based pricing.
  4. Failure handling. Prepare for a Sierra agent giving a customer wrong information, and a QA system that keeps branded agents accurate.
  5. In person. Sierra's careers page says "since we work in person, interviews take place at one of our offices" [6].

For the full loop, stage by stage, read our Sierra product manager interview guide.

How AllthingsPM does this. The JD mock builds the interview from the posting you choose, asks follow-ups the way a hiring manager does, and scores each answer. Pair it with the 108 questions on the Sierra company page for volume.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for Sierra PM prep

Sierra's own careers page is the source of truth for what is open, and it now shows pay. It does not give you anything to practice on. Aced (formerly Exponent) publishes a useful candidate account of a Sierra Agent PM interview [8]; it is one person's loop, not a rehearsal against your posting. Generic mock platforms train you on generic product sense questions.

AllthingsPM puts the whole Sierra prep job in one account. You get all 18 Sierra postings we track, each with a mock interview built from its own requirements, so the questions test demos, agent design and enterprise judgment in the proportions Sierra asks for them. You get 108 Sierra questions with answer guides, a resume review against the exact JD, and an AI PM course built from 604 real job postings whose chapters on agents and enterprise deployment cover the Agent PM job directly.

It costs $20 a month or $120 a year, with one JD mock and one resume review free every day. For a role that pays $180K to $390K in San Francisco, that is the cheapest serious preparation available.

Verdict: read Sierra's board to see what is open, read candidate stories for color, and do the actual practice on AllthingsPM. Start a free Sierra mock.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to prepare for a Sierra product manager role?

The best way is AllthingsPM: pick your Sierra posting in the jobs catalog and run a scored mock built from its text, then work through the 108 Sierra questions with answer guides.
