Harvey PM Roles: Legal AI Product Management, Read From 6 Job Descriptions

AllthingsPM read every Harvey product manager job description in its catalog: six PM postings across Vault, Infrastructure, Integrations, New Verticals and Innovation, 5 to 8+ years asked, US base pay from $177.7K to $300K, and AI experience named in all six. Each has a scored mock built from its own text.

A product manager at a long table sorts fifteen printed job descriptions into three piles, marked only by colored paper clips, with a highlighter and a stopwatch beside them
Six postings, five jobs: every Harvey PM role asks you to earn a lawyer's trust in an AI answer.

A Harvey AI product manager owns one piece of a legal AI platform: the Vault document system, the infrastructure behind trillions of tokens, the integrations that pull legal context in, agent deployments for new verticals, or the workflows built side by side with law firms. AllthingsPM holds all six Harvey PM job descriptions in its jobs catalog, and every one has a scored mock interview built from its own text. That is the fastest way to rehearse for the exact Harvey role you want, instead of a generic "AI PM" guess.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Below is every Harvey PM posting, what it pays, what the requirements actually say, how the roles differ, and how to prepare for each one.

How did we read Harvey's PM job descriptions?

We pulled every Harvey posting from the AllthingsPM jobs catalog on 29 September 2026. The catalog stores the full text Harvey published on its Ashby job board. It holds seven Harvey postings: six product manager roles and one Head of Product Communications role. We counted the six PM roles and left the communications role out of the numbers.

Every Harvey posting opens with the same "Why Harvey" block and closes with the same privacy and equal opportunity text. We cut that shared copy and counted only the role itself: title, level, location, years, pay, technical asks, legal asks, customer work and AI skills.

The same day we checked Harvey's live board through Ashby's public job API [1]. It listed 297 open postings across the company, 19 of them in the Product department. Our six PM postings were all live. The board also showed one PM posting we do not yet hold, a Senior/Staff Product Manager for Spaces, posted 9 September 2026 [1]. We cover it in its own section below, from the live text.

How AllthingsPM does this. Every link in the next table opens a page in our jobs catalog with the full posting and a Start mock button. The JD mock interview asks questions drawn from that posting's own requirements, follows up on your answers, and scores you, in text or voice. You pick the role; you do not paste or prompt anything.

What PM roles is Harvey hiring for?

Base pay as printed in each Harvey posting on Ashby [2] to [6], read 29 September 2026. "Area" is our grouping, not Harvey's. Harvey's live board lists equity for all six and a bonus for four of them [1].

Three patterns stand out. First, the level is high: five of the six titles say Staff or Senior/Staff, and the only one that does not, Innovation PM, asks for top law firm or in-house legal experience instead. Second, every posting publishes pay, and the floor is $177.7K. Third, the roles split cleanly between San Francisco and New York, three each.

What does a Harvey product manager actually do?

Harvey builds AI for legal and professional services. It was founded in the summer of 2022 by Winston Weinberg, a former litigator, and Gabriel Pereyra, a former research scientist at Google DeepMind and Meta [7]. On 9 September 2026 it announced a $550 million round at a $15.5 billion valuation, co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed, and said 80% of Am Law 100 law firms and five of the Fortune 10 use Harvey [8]. Press coverage of the same round reported annual recurring revenue above $400 million and more than 3,000 customer organizations [9].

The same announcement names the product surface a PM works on: Agents, Vault, Knowledge, Spaces, Command Center, Contract Intelligence, Horizon Scanning, Harvey Mobile, Ecosystem and Memory [8]. The PM postings map onto that list. Vault has its own two postings, Spaces has a new one on the live board, and the Staff PM and Infrastructure roles sit underneath all of it.

Every posting repeats Harvey's three values: "Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished" [2]. Read those as interview criteria. A Harvey PM is expected to make a call on imperfect information, keep the product simple for lawyers, and keep improving after launch.

How AllthingsPM does this. The AllthingsPM JD mock reads the role paragraph, not just the shared company copy, so a Vault mock asks about document search and DMS integrations while a New Verticals mock asks about turning one account's workflow into a product. Our Harvey interview guide covers the loop itself.

What is different about each Harvey PM role?

Staff Product Manager (San Francisco). This is the integrations role inside Harvey's Enterprise Product organization. You build "integrations with strategic partners and vendors" and "enable search over data source using MCP's and deep research" [6]. It asks for 5+ years building enterprise products in B2B, experience "working on Integrations," and knowledge of AI and LLMs. It is the only posting that names a work model: in person three days a week in San Francisco, with relocation assistance [6].

Staff PM, Infrastructure (San Francisco). You own the "infrastructure that powers every user interaction," on a platform the posting says processes "trillions of tokens and millions of daily requests" [3]. Projects include "multi-region deployment strategies" and "comprehensive observability infrastructure." It asks for 6+ years and comfort with "distributed systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure." Legal or professional services experience, and even "a prior career in law," appear only as nice to haves.

Senior/Staff PM, Vault (San Francisco and New York). Two postings, identical text. Vault is Harvey's "document and knowledge management platform," with "AI-enabled search and Q&A, document extraction, secure sharing across workspaces," and integrations with iManage, SharePoint, Dropbox and Box [2]. This is the most demanding posting in the set: 8+ years of PM work, at least 3 of them at Staff or Senior level, plus system design, "data pipelines, and retrieval architectures," and products that handle sensitive data. It is also the only role that asks you to mentor other PMs.

Staff PM, New Verticals (New York). A hybrid of product, sales and forward deployed work. You "partner directly with strategic accounts," map their workflows to agent-powered solutions, drive deployments with forward deployed engineers, and then "champion repeatability," turning one-off work into products [4]. It is the only posting that asks you to "influence new commercial models, including pricing, packaging." It requires a background in professional services (legal, consulting or banking) and invites people from solutions or forward deployed engineering roles.

Innovation Product Manager (New York). The most legal of the six. The posting says "We don't build software for lawyers; we build it with them," and asks for experience "at a top law firm or in-house legal team" [5]. You are "not expected to code," but you must hold conversations about "generative AI, workflow design, privacy, governance, and enterprise rollout." It is also the most customer facing: pilots, onboarding and firm-wide rollout across practices like M&A and litigation.

How AllthingsPM does this. Pick the area, then learn its vocabulary. The course covers each one: permission-aware retrieval and the oversharing leak for Vault, why documents are not text for extraction work, and claim-level citations and confidence for any role where lawyers must trust the output.

What about the new Spaces PM role?

Harvey posted a Senior/Staff Product Manager for Spaces in San Francisco on 9 September 2026 [1]. It is not yet in our catalog, so it is not in the counts above. From the live text: you "own the core Spaces experience," shaping how users "create and navigate Spaces, bring in relevant context, run work," and return to them over time [10].

It reads differently from the other six. It asks for 5+ years, "strong design instincts," and growth work on "onboarding, activation, entry points, defaults, and repeat usage." AI agents appear as a preferred qualification, next to permissions and sensitive data. The base pay matches Vault: $177.7K to $266.5K [10]. If your background is a consumer-grade workflow or collaboration product, this is the Harvey role closest to it.

How AllthingsPM does this. Until Spaces lands in the catalog, the AllthingsPM JD mock accepts any job description you paste, so you can build a scored mock from the Spaces posting today. For the growth side, practice activation and retention questions in the mock interview by question type.

How many years of experience does Harvey want?

Every posting except Innovation PM names a floor.

Years namedPostingsRoles
5+1Staff Product Manager
6+1Staff PM, Infrastructure
8+ (3 at Staff or Senior)2Senior/Staff PM, Vault
8+ total, 3+ in PM or related1Staff PM, New Verticals
Not stated (law firm experience instead)1Innovation Product Manager

There is no APM or entry-level PM posting in the set. Two routes in do not require a long PM career: New Verticals counts "solutions, forward deployed engineering, product consulting" toward its 3 years, and Innovation PM trades PM years for time at a top law firm or legal team [4] [5]. Harvey's own hiring guide says it hires "a lot of people who have never worked with lawyers before," as long as they are "curious about our customers and their day-to-day challenges" [11].

How AllthingsPM does this. If you are short of the years, your resume has to close the gap. The AllthingsPM resume review against a JD scores your resume against the specific Harvey posting and points to the missing lines, and Resume Job Match finds roles that fit your level if Staff is a stretch today.

Mostly no, but it helps. Five of the six postings mention legal or professional services somewhere. Only two make it a requirement: New Verticals (professional services) and Innovation PM (a top law firm or in-house team). Vault lists "deep understanding of law firm workflows" as preferred, and Infrastructure lists legal work as a nice to have [2] [3].

What the postings do require is the mindset legal work demands. Infrastructure wants "a high bar for quality" and a "spidey sense for where a product experience could break down," and names "expert users with demanding accuracy and trust requirements" [3]. That is the real test. A lawyer who catches one invented citation stops trusting the tool, so accuracy, citations and permissions come up in almost every Harvey conversation.

How AllthingsPM does this. Our Harvey company page holds 60 questions with answer guides, such as how you would prevent and handle hallucinated case law and how you would measure the accuracy of Harvey's legal research outputs. You learn the legal stakes by answering them.

How technical do Harvey PMs need to be?

Very, for four of the six. Infrastructure, both Vault postings and the Staff PM role ask you to engage with engineering on architecture: "distributed systems," "system design," "retrieval architectures," or enough depth "to challenge assumptions, propose solutions, and influence design" [2] [3] [6]. Four of six also name security, compliance or governance, from access control and SSO/SCIM/OAuth on Vault to multi-tenant compliance on Infrastructure.

AI is universal. All six postings name it: LLM-powered applications and inference on Infrastructure, "semantic search, retrieval systems" on Vault, "AI agents, workflow automation tools, or retrieval-augmented systems" on New Verticals, "knowledge of AI and LLMs" on the Staff PM role, and generative AI conversations on Innovation PM. The Staff PM posting is the only one to name MCP directly [6].

The two customer-facing roles are lighter on architecture and heavier on workflow mapping. New Verticals asks you to "run QA, troubleshoot with engineering," and fly to customers when needed [4].

How AllthingsPM does this. Technical depth in an interview means explaining a system in plain terms and naming the trade-off. The AllthingsPM AI PM course teaches retrieval, agents, evals and enterprise deployment from the PM's side, in 14 chapters built from 604 real job postings, and the knowledge graph shows how those concepts connect.

Which Harvey questions match each role?

The AllthingsPM question bank has Harvey questions that line up with the roles above:

These are practice prompts built from Harvey's products and job descriptions, not leaked interview transcripts. Harvey does not publish its PM interview loop; its hiring guide covers values and culture, not rounds [11].

How AllthingsPM does this. Every question page has an answer guide and a button to start a mock on it. Answer two or three per role out loud in voice mode, then run the full JD mock for the posting you are applying to.

How should you prepare for a Harvey PM role?

A four step plan that follows the postings:

  1. Pick the area. Vault and Infrastructure reward platform and data depth. Staff PM rewards integrations. New Verticals rewards deployment and commercial sense. Innovation PM rewards legal practice. Spaces rewards workflow design and growth.
  2. Learn the trust vocabulary. Citations, hallucination handling, permissions, ethical walls and evals. Harvey sells to lawyers who bill for being right.
  3. Rewrite your resume to the posting. Put technical depth and customer work in the same bullet: "shipped X with engineering, adopted by Y enterprise customers."
  4. Rehearse against the exact JD. Then rehearse again. Staff-level loops expect crisp, decisive answers, which matches Harvey's first value.

How AllthingsPM does this. Steps two to four happen in one place on AllthingsPM: the course for the vocabulary, the JD resume review for step three, and the JD mock for step four, all on one $20 a month plan.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for Harvey PM prep

Harvey's PM roles are specific. A Vault interview and a New Verticals interview test different things, and a generic PM mock will not tell them apart. AllthingsPM is built around that fact. Every Harvey PM posting in our catalog has its own page and its own scored mock, built from the posting's text, in text or voice, with follow-up questions.

Around those mocks sit the pieces a Harvey candidate needs: 60 Harvey questions with answer guides, a bank of 4,122 questions from 260 companies, an AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings with lessons on citations, retrieval and document extraction, a resume review against the exact JD, and Resume Job Match for finding your next role. All of it costs $20 a month or $120 a year, with a free tier.

Other options have real strengths. Human coaching platforms give you a person who may have interviewed at similar companies, and peer communities give you practice partners. Those are useful as a final check. For daily, role-specific rehearsal on every Harvey posting, with the course and question bank in the same account, AllthingsPM is the stronger choice and the cheaper one.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to prepare for a Harvey AI product manager role?

AllthingsPM is the best place to start: it has a scored mock built from each Harvey PM job description, 60 Harvey questions with answer guides, and an AI PM course that teaches citations, retrieval and evals. Pick the posting, fix your resume against it, then rehearse the mock until your answers are crisp.

How much does a Harvey product manager make?

Harvey publishes base pay in every PM posting. Across the six in our catalog it runs from $177.7K (Vault) to $300K (Staff PM, Infrastructure and New Verticals), plus equity; four also list a bonus on Harvey's board, checked 29 September 2026.

Do you need to be a lawyer to be a PM at Harvey?

No for most roles. Only New Verticals (professional services background) and Innovation PM (top law firm or in-house legal experience) require it. Harvey's hiring guide says it hires many people who have never worked with lawyers, as long as they are curious about customers.

Where are Harvey PM roles based?

San Francisco and New York. Our six postings split three and three, and the new Spaces role is in San Francisco. Harvey says most employees come into an office three or more days a week.

Does Harvey hire entry-level or associate PMs?

Not in the current postings. Every PM role is Senior, Staff or asks for legal practice experience, with years named from 5+ to 8+.

What do Harvey PM interviews focus on?

The postings point to trust and accuracy, technical depth with engineering, enterprise security, and adoption inside law firms. Practice those with the Harvey questions on AllthingsPM and a JD mock for your role.
