What this question tests

Whether you can show comfort operating without a clear problem definition and how you brought structure to it.

Pick a story where the problem itself, not just the solution, was unclear at the start.
State the Situation and why ambiguity existed, such as conflicting signals or no prior data on the problem.
State the Task: what decision you were ultimately responsible for despite the unclear starting point.
Describe the Action: how you reduced ambiguity, talking to users, running a small test, or setting a working hypothesis to move forward.
Give the Result: what you learned, what you decided, and how it held up.
Note what you would clarify with the interviewer if they want ambiguity in scope versus ambiguity in execution.

Demonstrates a concrete method for reducing ambiguity, such as a small user study or a scoped experiment, not just gut feel.
