What is Leland product management coaching?

Leland is a marketplace that connects you with coaches across fields such as MBA admissions, consulting and product management. On its product management page, each coach has a profile, an hourly rate they set, and a button to book a free intro call. The rates we saw on September 29, 2026 ran from $50 an hour to $379 an hour, with examples like $189 and $329 an hour.

Leland also runs group programs. Its Product Management Recruiting Bootcamp is 4 weeks, 7 live sessions of 90 minutes, listed at $899 (down from $1,199), with a 30 minute mock interview with a coach and access to Leland+ included. It also hosts free livestreams, with PM titles such as "Breaking into Product Management".

Leland's genuine strength is the person on the other side of the call. A good coach who has sat on hiring panels can tell you how your story lands. That is valuable, and it is also the most expensive way to get each repetition.

How AllthingsPM does this: instead of booking an hour, you open practice, pick a question and answer it out loud. The AI interviewer asks follow-ups based on what you actually said, scores you, and you read the answer guide on the same page. You can run the next rep a minute later.

Is Leland worth it for PM interview prep?

It can be, for one specific use: calibration late in your prep. A human coach can notice things an early candidate misses, such as a story that runs long or a metric that sounds invented.

The problem is the rest of the prep. PM interviews test skills you only build by answering many questions out loud: product sense, execution, metrics, strategy and behavioral stories. Learning research supports this. Roediger and Karpicke (2006) found that practising retrieval produced better recall a week later than re-reading the same material. If each retrieval rep costs $50 to $379, most candidates simply do not get enough of them.

Here is the math with the numbers we checked. Ten one hour sessions with the $189 an hour coach we saw would cost $1,890. Ten sessions at the cheapest listed rate would still be $500. On AllthingsPM, $20 covers a month of unlimited mocks, and the free plan gives you a JD mock every day.

Bar chart of prices in USD: AllthingsPM, highlighted first, $20 for one month and $120 for one year; Leland $50 for one hour with the cheapest PM coach, $189 for one hour with an example PM coach, and $899 for the PM Recruiting Bootcamp
AllthingsPM vs Leland: a full year of AllthingsPM costs less than one example Leland PM coaching hour. Sources: allthingspm.app/pricing and joinleland.com, checked September 29, 2026

How AllthingsPM does this: we built for the volume problem. Every one of our 4,122 questions in the question bank has its own page, an answer guide and a button to start a mock on it, so you can do ten reps in an evening for the price of nothing extra.

Which is better for a specific role or company?

A Growth PM interview and a Platform PM interview at the same company test different things, and the job description is the best public clue to which. A Leland coach can read the posting with you, if you book the time and they have worked near that role.

AllthingsPM does it on demand. Paste any posting into the JD mock, or pick one of the 116 live roles in our jobs catalog, and the AI interviewer shapes the interview around that role's responsibilities and seniority. Each catalog role, such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic, has its own mock and a resume check against the same JD.

AllthingsPM JD mock: paste any job description and get an interview built from it, September 2026

Company hubs help too. Our Google hub and Anthropic hub collect the real questions reported for each company, each with an answer guide.

How AllthingsPM does this: the free plan includes one JD mock and one JD resume review every day, no card needed. Most candidates can rehearse the exact role they applied to before spending anything on a coach.

Which is better for AI PM roles?

AllthingsPM. AI company loops increasingly test evals, model tradeoffs, agent failure modes and AI product metrics. Some Leland coaches list AI product work as a specialty, and Leland has run a free livestream on the AI product lifecycle. But a coach is one person's experience, booked by the hour.

Our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings and is updated weekly, with 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies. Lessons such as the AI product sense and execution rounds and product sense under ambiguity teach the skills, and the knowledge graph shows how AI concepts connect. For more on what AI roles actually ask for, see our comparison of what AI PM courses teach and what AI PM jobs want.

How AllthingsPM does this: learn a concept in the course, then rehearse it the same day on a real AI company role from the jobs catalog. The course, the mocks and the roles live in one subscription.

What that means in practice:

  • Daily practice for a month: AllthingsPM, $20. On Leland, even one session a week with the cheapest coach we saw would cost about $200.
  • A structured program: our course is part of the $20 subscription; Leland's bootcamp is $899 for a single 4 week cohort.
  • A human second opinion: Leland's free intro call is useful here, and one paid hour late in your prep can be worth it.

How AllthingsPM does this: start on the free plan, and upgrade on pricing only after the daily JD mock has shown you it helps. Nothing to schedule and nothing to book.

How should you combine AI practice and a human coach?

If you want both, the order matters. Spend the cheap reps first and the expensive hour last.

  1. Week 1: map the gaps. Run the free resume review against a JD and your first JD mock. Write down the follow-ups that caught you out.
  2. Week 1 to 2: learn. Close AI specific gaps in the AI PM course and core gaps with answer guides in the question bank.
  3. Week 2 to 3: drill. Answer five questions a day out loud in practice before reading each guide. Re-run the JD mock and compare scores.
  4. Final week: calibrate. If you want a human, book one session. Bring your weakest story from your mock history, so the hour goes to what the AI flagged rather than to warm up questions.

For more options on the human side, see our guides to PM interview coaches and coaching marketplaces and the best PM mock interview platforms.

How AllthingsPM does this: everything in steps 1 to 3 lives in one place, and most of it is free on the daily plan. A coach becomes a final check, not the whole program.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for product management interview prep

The decision is really about what you are buying. Leland sells hours with a person. AllthingsPM sells the practice that makes those hours, if you still want one, count.

  • More reps per dollar. Unlimited scored AI mocks for $20 a month or $120 a year, against Leland PM coaches listed at $50 to $379 an hour.
  • Starts from your role. Mocks built from any job description you paste, plus 116 live AI company roles with their own mocks.
  • Teaches, not only tests. A 101 lesson AI PM course with 14 graded case studies, built from 604 real PM job postings and updated weekly.
  • Every question has an answer. 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each with its own page and answer guide.
  • Your whole application in one place. Resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.

Leland's real strength is human judgement from coaches with hiring experience, and its free intro call is a sensible way to meet one. For the weeks of practice that actually move your interview score, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start a free JD mock.

Start today, free: pick the job you most want, paste its description into the JD mock, and after one session you will know which questions the interviewer will push on and what to study next.
