AllthingsPM vs Pramp: on-demand AI mocks or scheduled peer mocks

AllthingsPM is the better Pramp alternative for PMs: AI mock interviews built from any job description, at any hour, with a free JD mock every day. Pramp now runs inside Aced with 5 free peer mocks a month at 4 fixed PM times.

Practice when you are ready, not when the calendar says so.

Short answer: if you want a Pramp alternative for product manager interviews, choose AllthingsPM. You can start an AI mock interview at any hour, built from the exact job description you paste, and get follow-up questions and a score, with a free JD mock every day. Pramp still exists, but only as the peer mock feature inside Aced (formerly Exponent): free users get 5 peer mocks a month, and PM sessions start at four fixed Pacific times a day [1][2][4].

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Alongside the mocks it has 4,122 real PM questions from 260 companies with answer guides, an AI PM course built from 604 real job postings, and resume review against a job description, for $20 a month or $120 a year. Pramp facts below come from Pramp's and Aced's own pages, checked in September 2026.

What happened to Pramp?

Pramp was the classic free peer mock site: you booked a slot, got matched with another candidate, and took turns interviewing each other. Pramp joined Exponent in November 2021 [7]. Its homepage now says: "As of July 2024, all new Pramp sessions are hosted on Exponent Practice" [1]. In 2026 Exponent renamed itself Aced and lists Pramp as one of its brands [8].

Aced's practice page is direct about it: "Pramp is now Aced (formerly Exponent)", and existing Pramp users need an Aced account [2]. So "using Pramp" in 2026 means signing up for Aced and working inside its credit system.

That matters for your plan. The free, unlimited Pramp many PMs remember has become a metered feature: 5 free credits a month, with unlimited sessions only on a paid membership [3][4].

How AllthingsPM does this: there is no credit to ration and no account on someone else's platform. Open the JD mock, paste a posting, and the interview starts. Free users get one JD mock a day, and the whole question bank with answer guides is free to read.

How does a Pramp session compare with an AllthingsPM mock?

A Pramp session in Aced runs about an hour. You and your partner "interview each other for approximately 30 minutes each", then "trade detailed notes with your partner using realistic rubrics" [2]. You are matched on availability, experience level and interview history [2]. For product management, sessions start at 2 AM, 8 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM Pacific time [2].

An AllthingsPM mock works differently:

  1. You choose the target. Paste any job description into the JD mock, pick a live role from our jobs catalog, or start from a single question in practice.
  2. The AI asks and probes. It asks the question, listens, then follows up on what you actually said ("why that user segment?", "what would you cut first?").
  3. You get scored immediately. No waiting for a partner's notes; the score and feedback arrive when you finish.
  4. You compare against a model. Every question in our bank has its own page with an answer guide, so each rep ends with something to measure yourself against.

AllthingsPM (us) highlighted first: bar chart showing 30 free JD mocks in a 30 day month on AllthingsPM against 5 free peer mocks on Pramp in Aced, and 100 percent of each session spent as the candidate on AllthingsPM against about 50 percent on Pramp

The chart shows the two numbers that decide most weeks of prep. On the free plan, AllthingsPM gives you up to 30 JD mocks in a 30 day month against 5 on Pramp. And in every AllthingsPM session you are the candidate the whole time, while on Pramp half the hour goes to interviewing your partner.

How AllthingsPM does this: the mock lives in one session screen where you can switch between typing and speaking at any point, and each follow-up is tied to the job description or question you picked. That makes every minute a candidate minute, and every session about the role you actually want.

Is peer feedback on Pramp good enough for PM interviews?

Sometimes. The honest strength of Pramp is that a real person sits across from you, which is good for nerves, eye contact and thinking out loud under pressure. Acting as the interviewer also teaches you what evaluators look for [5].

The weakness is the partner lottery. Final Round AI's review of Pramp reports that among experienced users "30% were excellent, 50% were adequate, and 20% were poor due to unprepared or disengaged partners", and that "approximately 1 in 5 Pramp sessions ends in a no-show" [5]. Aced returns the credit when a session is cancelled before it starts [2], but a missed slot still costs you a day of prep when the next PM session is hours away.

There is also a ceiling on what a peer can judge. Your partner is another candidate. They can say whether your structure was clear, but not reliably whether your answer would pass a Google or Meta product sense bar [5].

How AllthingsPM does this: the AI interviewer never arrives unprepared, and the feedback is anchored to the question or job description, not to a stranger's opinion. For product sense, our lesson on the AI product sense and execution rounds explains what interviewers score, so you can read the rubric before you practise against it.

Which is better for a specific company or role?

AllthingsPM. Pramp matches you with a peer and a shared question; it does not build the interview from the posting you are applying to. That is fine for generic reps, but a Growth PM loop and an AI platform PM loop test different things, and the job description is the best public clue to which.

On AllthingsPM you can:

  • Paste any posting into the JD mock and get a mock shaped by its responsibilities and seniority.
  • Pick from 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies in the jobs catalog, such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic, each with its own mock.
  • Drill company questions from hubs such as Google and Meta, each question with its own answer guide.
  • Check your resume against the same JD with resume review, so your stories match what the interviewer will probe.

We explain the method in our guide to running a mock interview from any job description.

How AllthingsPM does this: one job description drives the whole loop: the mock, the resume check and the questions you drill. You prepare for the interview you will actually sit, not an average one.

How much do AllthingsPM and Pramp cost?

PlanAllthingsPMPramp (inside Aced)
Free1 JD mock and 1 JD resume review a day, question bank and answer guides, first course lessons, Resume Job Match5 peer mock credits a month, plus Aced free plan extras [3][4]
Monthly$20 (INR 1,200)$79 for an Aced membership with unlimited peer mocks [4][6]
Yearly$120 (INR 8,400)$12 a month billed annually [4][6]
What paid addsUnlimited mocks and resume reviews, the whole AI PM course with graded case studies, current podcast summariesUnlimited peer mocks; AI mocks need Aced's higher Expert tier [6]

Prices checked September 2026. Aced's pricing page renders client side; figures as displayed on September 26, 2026 and as reported by third-party reviews [4][6].

What that means in practice:

  • On free plans, AllthingsPM gives you far more reps: up to 30 JD mocks a month against 5 peer mocks.
  • Month to month, AllthingsPM is cheaper: $20 against $79.
  • Aced's annual plan is cheaper per month than ours if all you want is unlimited peer mocks. Ours includes AI mocks from any JD, an AI PM course and resume tools in the same price.

How AllthingsPM does this: one subscription covers mocks, the AI PM course, unlimited resume reviews and the library of book summaries. Start on the free tier, and only look at pricing once the daily JD mock has shown you it helps.

Does AI practice actually work, or do you need a human?

You need volume first and a human second. Learning research backs retrieval practice: Roediger and Karpicke (2006) found that testing yourself produced better recall a week later than re-reading the material [9]. A mock interview is a test, and the more of them you can run on your own schedule, the more you learn.

Candidates say the same. One PM candidate on Reddit described running more than 60 timed voice AI rounds because "peer mocks weren't reliable, everyone's busy and you don't get high quality feedback" [10]. That is the case for AI mocks: they make daily reps possible.

A human still helps once, near the end, to check nerves and presence. Pramp's real strength is exactly that: a live person for free, a few times a month. Our view is simple: do your daily reps on AllthingsPM, and if you want a live check before a final loop, a single peer or coach session is enough. Our list of the best PM mock interview platforms covers those options.

How AllthingsPM does this: you can answer any of our 4,122 questions out loud in practice, hear the follow-ups, get a score, and then read the answer guide on the same page. That test-then-review loop is what the research rewards.

A 7 day plan with AllthingsPM instead of Pramp

Here is how to use one week before a PM loop, mostly on the free plan.

  1. Day 1: resume check. Run a free resume review against your target posting. Note the two or three responsibilities you do not yet prove.
  2. Day 2: first JD mock. Paste the posting into the JD mock, answer by voice, and write down every follow-up that caught you out.
  3. Day 3: learn the gaps. If they were AI topics (evals, model trade-offs, agents), open the matching lesson in the AI PM course. If they were core PM, read answer guides in the question bank.
  4. Day 4: drill by type. Answer five questions from your target company's hub out loud in practice before reading each guide.
  5. Day 5: second JD mock. Same posting, fresh session. Compare the score and follow-ups with Day 2.
  6. Day 6: widen. Use Resume Job Match to find a similar role and run a mock on it, so you do not overfit to one posting.
  7. Day 7: review. Skim a framework summary like Decode and Conquer and rehearse your three best stories.

That is several scored mocks, a resume review and a week of targeted study for free. On Pramp's free plan, the same week would use most of your 5 monthly credits, at fixed times, with half of each hour spent interviewing someone else.

How AllthingsPM does this: every step above is a page on the site, linked from the next one, so the week runs without planning a calendar around a partner.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for a Pramp alternative

Pramp's original deal, free and unlimited live practice with strangers, is gone. Inside Aced it is capped at 5 free sessions a month at fixed Pacific times, with half of each session spent as the interviewer [2][3]. Whatever replaces it has to solve three problems: when you can practise, how good the feedback is, and whether the questions match the job you want.

AllthingsPM solves all three:

  • When: any hour, instantly, no partner and no no-shows.
  • Feedback: an AI interviewer that follows up on your answer and scores it straight away, plus an answer guide for each of 4,122 real questions.
  • Fit: mocks built from any job description, and 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies with their own mocks.

It also covers what Pramp never did: a 14 chapter, 101 lesson AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings, resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios, for $20 a month or $120 a year, with a free tier.

Pramp's genuine strength is a free live human a few times a month, which is useful for a final nerves check. For the daily practice that actually moves your score, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start a free JD mock today.

Start free now: pick the role you want most, paste its description into the JD mock, and in one session you will know which follow-ups the interviewer will push on. No card, no calendar, no partner.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Pramp alternative for product managers?

AllthingsPM. It replaces the peer partner with an AI interviewer you can start at any hour, builds the mock from any job description, and pairs it with 4,122 real questions with answer guides and an AI PM course. The free plan includes one JD mock a day.

Is Pramp still free?

Partly. Pramp now runs inside Aced (formerly Exponent), and free users get 5 peer mock credits a month. Unlimited sessions need a paid Aced membership [2][3][4].

Is Pramp shutting down?

Not exactly. Pramp's site says all new sessions have been hosted on Exponent Practice since July 2024, and Aced lists Pramp as one of its brands [1][8]. You need an Aced account to book.

When are Pramp product management sessions?

According to Aced, PM peer sessions start at 2 AM, 8 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM Pacific time every day [2]. AllthingsPM mocks have no schedule; you start whenever you are ready.

Can Pramp build a mock from a job description?

We did not find that on Pramp or Aced's practice pages. AllthingsPM's JD mock builds the interview from any pasted job description.

Is AI mock practice as good as a human peer?

For volume and consistency, yes: it is always available, always prepared and scores you immediately. A live human is still useful once or twice before a final loop, which you can add on top of daily AllthingsPM practice.
