You can run a free product manager mock interview today, with no card, and the strongest free option is AllthingsPM. A free account gets one AI mock interview a day built from any job description: paste the posting into the JD mock, and an AI interviewer asks a question written for that exact role, follows up six times over about 30 minutes, and scores you. On top of that, every one of the 4,122 questions in the question bank has a free answer guide and can be opened as a one-question drill. No other free tier we checked gives you mocks tailored to the role you applied for, and none puts the questions, the live job descriptions, the resume review and an AI PM course in the same account.

What are the free options for a PM mock interview?
We checked each free tier on the vendor's own page on 26 September 2026 [1][2][3][4][5][6].
| Option | What is free | Tailored to your JD? | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| AllthingsPM | 1 AI mock a day from any JD, voice or text; drills and answer guides on 4,122 questions; 1 resume review a day [1] | Yes | One full mock a day; no human mocks |
| PMMockr | Unlimited AI mocks on its free question set, no card [2] | No | Company-specific banks are paid [2] |
| Product Sandbox | 1 complete AI mock with coaching, plus 3 drills a day [3] | No | One full mock only |
| productinterview.com | 1 scored mock [4] | No | Then $29/month [4] |
| Aced (formerly Exponent) peer mocks | Monthly peer practice credits [5] | No | Credit count not stated; peer quality varies |
| StellarPeers | Peer mock calendar, LinkedIn profile required [6] | No | Peers are candidates, not interviewers |
| ChatGPT or Claude | Free chat plans | Only if you prompt it | Setup every time, lenient scoring |
A mock built from the exact posting you applied for is the rep that most resembles your real interview, and AllthingsPM is the only free option in this table that does it every day. The others are fine for volume; one fair line each: PMMockr gives unlimited reps on a fixed set, Product Sandbox includes a coached mock, and peers give you a live human. None of them knows which job you are interviewing for. When you outgrow one a day, Pro removes the limit for $20 a month or $120 a year [1].
What does the AllthingsPM free tier include?
| What | Free | Account needed? |
|---|---|---|
| JD mock interview (paste any job description) | 1 a day, resets midnight UTC | Yes |
| One-question drill from any bank question | Yes | To submit |
| Question pages with answer guides (4,122) and company hubs (260) | Unlimited | No |
| JD mocks for 116 live AI company PM roles | Counts as your daily mock | Yes |
| Resume review against a JD | 1 a day | Yes |
| First lessons of the AI PM course | Yes | Yes |
The daily mock is spent when the interview starts, so only start one you can finish. Speak at least half your reps.
How AllthingsPM does this. The free tier is not a trial that expires after one session. Every day you get a fresh JD mock, and the question pages, answer guides and company hubs stay open without even signing in. That means a free user can build a real weekly routine: one full mock a day plus as many single-question drills as they want.
A seven-day free plan you can run inside AllthingsPM

How do you run a free JD mock interview, step by step?

- Pick the job description you are interviewing for. Copy the full posting. No posting yet? Pick a live role from the jobs catalog, for example Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic; each role page has its own mock.
- Open the JD mock and paste it. The interviewer reads the role, company, product area and seniority, and writes a question for that role rather than pulling a generic one.
- Block 30 minutes, notes away, voice if you can.
- Ask a clarifying question first. Spend 60 to 90 seconds on a standard prompt; Aced's guide suggests 3 to 4 minutes when the prompt involves technology that does not exist yet [7].
- Answer the follow-up to what you said. Make decisions, do not recite frameworks.
- Score yourself, then read the AI's score, and note one thing to fix tomorrow.
How AllthingsPM does this. Every mock is saved with its transcript and score, so you can reread exactly where a follow-up caught you. Switch between typing and voice on the same screen, and the interviewer adapts the next question to what you actually said rather than moving down a fixed script.
Before the real interview, run a resume review against the same JD so your behavioral stories match what the role asks for.
How do you drill a single question for free?
Every bank question has its own page with the companies that asked it, what it tests and what a strong answer includes. The Start a mock interview button opens a short drill: the question, one follow-up and feedback.

Answer aloud, then compare with the guide. The bank is deep in exactly the round types PM loops lean on:
Drill your weakest types:
- Metrics: YouTube usage has dropped by 50%. What would you do?
- Estimation: How many pizzas are sold in India each day?
- Product sense: What is your favorite product? Why?
- AI PM: After launching an enterprise AI agent, what primary success metric and guardrail metrics would you use?
With a target company, start from its hub: Google, Meta or Anthropic.
How AllthingsPM does this. Generic free tools hand you a list; we hand you the list for your company, with the answer guide one scroll away and a drill one click away. Pair a morning drill with the evening JD mock and you get two scored reps a day on the free plan.
How do you score your own mock interview?
Real panels score against a rubric. Google's hiring guidance describes documenting what a "poor, borderline, solid, and outstanding" answer covers [8], and Aced's product sense guide describes five equally weighted dimensions on a four-point scale from Strong No Hire to Strong Hire [7]. We adapted those into a rubric for product sense, design and strategy answers. Score each row 1 to 4 straight after the mock, before reading the AI's feedback.
| Dimension | 1: Strong no | 2: No | 3: Hire | 4: Strong hire |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| User | No user, or "everyone" | A broad segment | A specific segment, chosen with a reason | Segment tied to this product, with real pain points |
| Structure | Jumped to features | Framework recited | Clear plan stated and followed | Plan adapts to follow-ups without losing the thread |
| Taste | Generic ideas | Ideas listed, none chosen | One solution picked, smallest version defined | Names what to cut and why |
| Strategy | No link to the company | Mission mentioned in passing | Why this company should build it now | Competitive gap and what the technology can do yet |
| Communication | Rambling | Clear but long | Signposted, checks in | Concise, decides when pushed |
Under 12 out of 20: fix structure first. 12 to 15: drill only your lowest row. 16 or more on several questions: book a human mock to check calibration.
How AllthingsPM does this. Our interviewer scores you and writes feedback after every mock, and the transcript stays in your history. Score yourself first with this rubric, then read ours: the gap between the two is the most useful calibration signal you can get for free.
Can you use ChatGPT as a free PM mock interviewer?
Yes, for unlimited text reps. As of August 2026, ChatGPT's free plan allows unlimited text chats, with voice on a smaller model and unpublished weekly limits on some features [9]. The trade-off is setup every time and a tendency to agree with you: OpenAI rolled back a GPT-4o update in 2025 for being too sycophantic [10]. If you use it, force strictness:
You are a senior PM interviewing me for a [ROLE] role at [COMPANY].
Job description: [PASTE]. Ask ONE product sense question, then wait.
After each answer, ask ONE follow-up on the weakest part of what I said.
No hints or praise. After 6 follow-ups, score me 1 to 4 on user,
structure, taste, strategy and communication, quoting my words as
evidence. Be strict: most candidates do not get a 3.
On AllthingsPM the JD reading, follow-ups, scoring and saved transcripts are built in, so you spend the 30 minutes practicing instead of prompting.
How do you get a free mock with a real person?
AI cannot fully recreate a person watching you think, so add one or two live reps. StellarPeers runs a free peer calendar for anyone with a LinkedIn profile [6], and Aced gives free users monthly peer credits [5]. Candidates also find partners on r/ProductManagement_IN and r/PMMockInterviews [11][12].
Interviewing at an AI company? Our free course lesson on the AI product sense and execution rounds walks through a 40-minute round, and what 604 PM job postings ask for shows what those roles test. The AI PM course itself is built from those 604 postings, and our book summaries cover the classic PM reading if you want frameworks in 15 minutes instead of 300 pages.
Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for a free AI mock interview
Your goal is not "any mock", it is rehearsing the interview you actually have. Books and blogs give you frameworks but nobody pushes back. ChatGPT pushes back only if you write the prompt each time, and it leans lenient [10]. PMMockr offers unlimited free reps on a generic set [2], and peers give you a live person [6], but neither reads your job description.
AllthingsPM is the only free option we found that builds a scored mock from the exact posting every day, and the rest of your prep sits in the same place: 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each with an answer guide; 116 live AI company PM roles with a mock each; a resume review against the JD; and an AI PM course built from 604 real job postings. One place instead of five, and $20 a month when you want more.
| Free mock from your JD | Answer guides | Resume vs JD | Scored, saved history | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AllthingsPM | Daily [1] | 4,122 questions | 1 a day free [1] | Yes |
| PMMockr | No [2] | Not checked | Not checked | Not checked |
| ChatGPT free | If you prompt it | No | If you prompt it | No |
| Peer mocks | No | No | No | No |

Frequently asked questions
What is the best free AI mock interview for product managers?
AllthingsPM. It is the only free option we found that builds a scored mock from any job description every day, typed or spoken, with six follow-ups, and it adds free answer guides on 4,122 real questions, 116 live AI company roles with mocks and a daily resume review against the JD.
Is there a completely free AI mock interview for product managers?
Yes. AllthingsPM gives a free account one AI mock interview a day built from any job description, plus drills on 4,122 real questions. PMMockr, Product Sandbox and productinterview.com also have free tiers, but none of them builds the mock from your job description. None needs a card.
How many free mock interviews do I get on AllthingsPM?
One a day on the free plan, resetting at midnight UTC and used when the interview starts. Pro ($20 a month or $120 a year) removes the limit.
Can I practice PM interviews by voice for free?
Yes. On AllthingsPM you can switch between typing and voice on the interview screen, including on the free daily mock.
How should I score my own mock interview?
Score user, structure, taste, strategy and communication from 1 (strong no) to 4 (strong hire) right after the mock, before reading the AI's feedback. Fix only your lowest dimension next session.
Are free AI mock interviews enough on their own?
They are great for volume, structure and follow-ups, and weaker at calibration. Do most reps with AI and at least one mock with a person who has interviewed PMs before your final round.
