Why AI agent companies hire Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese-speaking PMs

AI agent companies like Sierra, Decagon and Scale AI post PM roles that require Spanish, Arabic or Brazilian Portuguese because the PM builds and demos the agent with the customer in that language. AllthingsPM lists these roles with a mock interview built from each JD.

A product manager at a long table covered in printed job descriptions laid out in a grid, marking lines with a pencil
The agent speaks the customer's language. The PM who builds it has to as well.

AI agent companies hire Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese-speaking product managers because the PM in these roles sits with the customer, builds the agent, and demos it in the language the customer's own users speak. In the 389 PM postings AllthingsPM read from 86 company job boards on 22 September 2026, 11 named a language other than English, and nine of those came from three companies: Sierra, Decagon and Scale AI. AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform, and its jobs catalog turns each of these job descriptions into a scored mock interview, so you can practice for the exact role before you apply.

If you searched "product manager Spanish speaking", this is the short version: the highest-paying bilingual PM roles right now are agent roles, not localization roles. The language is a requirement because the work is customer-facing, not because the product needs translating.

Which AI companies are hiring bilingual PMs, and for what?

Here is every posting in our snapshot that named a language, straight from the source JDs. AllthingsPM comes first because it is where you can read and practice all of the catalogued ones in one place.

Two patterns jump out. First, the language roles cluster at customer-facing AI agent companies. Sierra alone posted five of them. Second, the language is almost always a hard requirement for agent roles (Sierra, Decagon) and a nice-to-have for platform or research-heavy roles (Scale AI, Nabla).

How AllthingsPM does this: every role above with a link has its own page in the AllthingsPM jobs catalog, with the full JD and a one-click mock interview built from it. The catalog holds 116 live PM job descriptions at 18 AI companies, so you can compare the Spanish-speaking Sierra role against the standard Sierra Agent Development role side by side.

Why does an AI agent company need a PM who speaks Spanish?

Because the agent is the product, and the customer judges it one conversation at a time.

Sierra describes its Agent PMs as people who partner "directly with our engineers and customers to build and ship AI agents that handle thousands of customer conversations a day." The same JD asks them to "prepare and present demonstrations of Sierra's agent" and to "develop and improve Sierra virtual agents to fit and anticipate our customers' needs." If the customer is a Spanish-language bank or a Brazilian retailer, those demos, reviews and fixes happen in Spanish or Portuguese.

Translation tools do not close this gap. Sierra's own writing on multilingual voice agents says "multilingual design is as much about cultural fluency as it is about language itself," and that "native speakers test, refine, and vet interactions" before agents go live. For a Latin American digital bank, Sierra says the team "developed a specialized voice tuned to regional accents, tone, and personality." A PM who cannot hear that an answer is grammatically correct but sounds wrong to a customer in Mexico City cannot own that agent.

The demand side is large too. USAFacts, citing the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, reports that 44.9 million people aged five and older spoke Spanish at home in the US in 2024, about one in seven. Any US brand deploying a support agent has a big Spanish-speaking customer base, even before it expands abroad.

How AllthingsPM does this: the AllthingsPM course chapter on agents covers the exact work these JDs describe: the anatomy of an agent, tool contracts, escalation and the agent spec a PM owns. Language skills get you in the room; this chapter is what you say once you are there.

Why are Arabic-speaking PMs in demand?

The Arabic roles in our data point to one region: the Gulf.

Scale AI's two Global Public Sector PM postings are based in Doha, Dubai and Riyadh, and list "Proficiency in Arabic, both written and spoken" among the nice-to-haves. The role leads "design workshops with the client to define custom AI solutions," scopes "new AI application use cases across various government entities," and owns "model evaluation sets and performance requirements." That is a PM building custom LLM applications with government ministries.

The business reason is public. In February 2025, RCR Wireless reported that Qatar's government signed a five-year partnership with Scale AI, under which Scale plans to explore more than 50 AI applications for the government. When the client is a ministry, workshops, stakeholder interviews and evaluation data are often in Arabic.

Sierra's Arabic-speaking Agent Development role sits in London and asks for more seniority than its US language roles: 5 to 7+ years in product development of highly technical products, against 3 to 5+ for the San Francisco Spanish and Portuguese roles.

How AllthingsPM does this: you can open the Scale AI Global Public Sector JD and start a mock built from it, then drill the Scale AI question set. The evals material in the AllthingsPM course matters here, since the JD asks you to own evaluation sets.

Why Brazilian Portuguese, specifically?

Both Sierra and Decagon wrote "Brazilian Portuguese," not "Portuguese." That wording tells you the customer base is Brazil, not Portugal.

Decagon's Senior Agent Product Manager posting is located in Brazil and lists "Fluent in Brazilian Portuguese" as a requirement. Sierra's version is based in San Francisco and asks for "Professional fluency in both Brazilian Portuguese and English," which suggests a US-based PM serving Brazilian accounts. Sierra's public customer list includes Santander, and its multilingual blog describes work for a Latin American digital bank.

The takeaway for candidates: if you speak Brazilian Portuguese, say so precisely on your resume. A recruiter searching Ashby for "Brazilian Portuguese" will not always match "Portuguese (fluent)."

How AllthingsPM does this: run your resume through AllthingsPM resume review against a JD with the Sierra or Decagon posting pasted in. It checks your resume against what that exact posting asks for, so a missing language line or a vague "customer-facing" claim shows up before a recruiter sees it.

What else do these bilingual PM job descriptions ask for?

The language line is one bullet among many. Read the rest of the JD and the job is clearly a senior, technical, customer-facing PM role.

Decagon is blunt about who fits: "engagement managers, project leaders, and senior managers from top consulting firms, as well as product managers, founders, and forward-deployed or solutions roles." It also says the role "is not an account management or customer success role." Bilingual support leads and localization managers will need to show they have built and shipped, not just managed.

How AllthingsPM does this: the JD mock reads the posting you give it and asks questions shaped by it, with follow-ups and a score, in text or voice. For these roles that means demo, scoping and executive questions, like this real one from our bank: a customer says Sierra's agent performs well in English but underperforms in German.

Is being bilingual enough to get an AI PM job?

No. It narrows the pool, but the interview tests the same things as any agent PM loop.

Both Sierra and Decagon also post non-language versions of the same roles. Our catalog lists the standard Sierra Agent Development role and several Decagon Senior Agent PM roles. The language variant uses essentially the same body text with one line added. So the interview is the Agent PM interview, and the language is a filter on top.

What that interview covers, based on the JDs and our question bank:

  • Agent design. When is an agent the right answer, what tools does it call, when does it escalate to a human?
  • Quality and evals. How do you prove the agent is accurate and on-brand, in every language it speaks?
  • Customer and executive communication. Sierra asks for "experience crafting and tailoring a message for potential customers, including executives."
  • Business outcomes. Sierra's question set includes how you would design and defend outcome-based pricing.

Your language is a real edge in one place: multilingual quality. Expect a question like "our agent is great in English but weak in Spanish; what do you do?" A bilingual PM can answer from experience: native-speaker review, locale-specific eval sets, regional tone. That answer is hard to fake.

How AllthingsPM does this: the AllthingsPM course chapter on agents walks through workflow versus agent and the agent spec you own. Pair it with the Sierra interview guide and the explainer on what an Agent PM does.

How do you find Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese-speaking PM roles?

Keyword searches on general job boards mix these roles with bilingual support, sales and localization jobs. A tighter approach:

  1. Start with the agent companies. Sierra and Decagon put the language in the job title, so their boards are the fastest check. Scale AI and Nabla put it in the requirements.
  2. Search the language plus "agent". "Spanish speaking agent product manager" returns fewer, better matches than "bilingual PM."
  3. Check the location against the market. Brazil-based or Brazilian Portuguese roles serve Brazil; Gulf-based Arabic roles serve Gulf governments and enterprises.
  4. Read the non-language twin. If the same company posts a standard version of the role, the bar is identical apart from the language.

How AllthingsPM does this: the AllthingsPM jobs catalog already collects these roles from the AI companies' own boards. If you want a wider search, Resume Job Match lists open roles and, if you upload a resume, scores each against it. Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for bilingual AI PM job prep

A bilingual PM candidate needs three things: the right roles, practice for that exact role, and the agent skills the interview tests. AllthingsPM puts all three in one account.

The jobs catalog holds 116 live PM job descriptions at 18 AI companies, including the Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Arabic-speaking roles at Sierra, Decagon and Scale AI covered here. Each has a mock interview built from its own text, in text or voice, with follow-ups and a score. The question bank adds 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each with its own answer guide, and the AI PM course, built from 604 real PM job postings, teaches agents, evals and the agent spec in depth. Resume review against a JD checks your application for the specific posting.

General job boards are good at volume, and they will show you far more listings. But they will not tell you that Sierra's Arabic role asks for more seniority than its Spanish one, or give you a mock built from the JD you are about to apply to. For targeted prep on bilingual AI agent PM roles, AllthingsPM is the stronger choice, and it starts free with one JD mock a day. Pro is $20 a month or $120 a year.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to prepare for a Spanish-speaking product manager role?

AllthingsPM is the best place to start: open the Spanish-speaking Sierra or Decagon JD in its jobs catalog and run a free mock built from that posting. Then study agent design and evals in the AllthingsPM course, and prepare one strong story about fixing quality in a non-English language.

Which AI companies hire Spanish-speaking PMs?

In our 22 September 2026 snapshot of 389 PM postings, Sierra (San Francisco and London) and Decagon (New York City) posted Spanish-speaking Agent PM roles. Sierra also posted Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic and French versions.

Do Spanish-speaking PM roles pay more?

We cannot say from job posts alone. Decagon's Spanish-speaking Senior Agent PM role lists $200K to $285K plus equity in New York; the Sierra postings in our snapshot did not list pay, so there is no like-for-like comparison.

Do I need to be a native speaker?

The JDs ask for "professional fluency" (Sierra), "fluent" (Decagon) or "proficiency, both written and spoken" (Scale AI). None of them says native. You will need to run customer meetings and review agent conversations in the language.

Is the Arabic requirement at Scale AI mandatory?

No. Scale AI's Global Public Sector postings list Arabic proficiency under "Nice to haves." The Sierra Arabic-speaking role puts the language in the title, which signals it is required.

Are these localization jobs?

No. Decagon's JD says the role "is not an account management or customer success role," and Sierra's describes building and shipping AI agents with engineers. The language supports customer-facing product work.
