Short answer: the best Product Management Exercises (PM Exercises) alternative for most PM candidates in 2026 is AllthingsPM. It has a bigger question bank (4,122 real questions from 260 companies, against 3,185 from 230), an answer guide on every question, and something PM Exercises does not have: an AI interviewer that asks, follows up and scores your answer by text or voice, including mocks built from any job description. It costs $120 a year or $20 for one month, with a free tier, against PM Exercises' $149 a year. If you also want humans, add StellarPeers for free peer mocks or Prepfully for a paid coach.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Every competitor fact below comes from the vendor's own pages, checked between September 25 and 28, 2026.

This guide is organised by what you wanted from PM Exercises in the first place: a big question bank, feedback on your answers, peer practice, a coach, AI PM training, or a lower price. Find your reason, then pick the tool.

Why do people look for a PM Exercises alternative?

PM Exercises has real strengths: a long-running community (it describes 100,000+ members), a large archive of community answers, daily peer mocks and paid coaches. People usually leave for one of four reasons.

  1. No instant feedback. A January 2025 PM Exercises subscriber on Reddit complained that the site mostly asks you to write long answers with no instant feedback. A May 2026 r/prodmgmt post described the same problem: "After answering a practice question, I genuinely had no idea if it was good."
  2. Price and plan shape. Interview Prep is $149 a year (₹9,995 in India), the AI PM training is a separate $399 a year, and there is no single month. An Indian candidate in a 2025 thread said "even ₹9K is a stretch".
  3. Time zones. The daily peer session runs at 6pm PST, which is 6:30am in India.
  4. AI company coverage. Its company filter showed 4 Anthropic questions when we checked.

PM Exercises' own question page puts the core issue well: "writing notes is not enough; the thinking-on-your-feet part is what fails people." Learning research agrees. Roediger and Karpicke (2006) found that testing yourself produced better recall a week later than re-reading. So the best alternative is one that makes you produce answers, not just read them.

How AllthingsPM does this: every question in our question bank has a button that starts a scored mock on it, so you answer first, get follow-ups and a score, then read the answer guide on the same page. That is the test-then-read loop the research rewards, available at any hour.

If you wanted a big question bank: which alternative is best?

AllthingsPM. It is the largest bank we found among these tools, and the only one where every question has its own page, its own answer guide and its own mock.

Bar chart of PM interview questions listed by each tool, AllthingsPM first and highlighted as us at 4,122, then PM Exercises 3,185, Aced (Exponent) 2,058, StellarPeers free plan 1,200+ and Product Alliance deep dives 800+

On classic big tech questions, AllthingsPM and PM Exercises are close: both have about 950 Google, 750 Meta, 275 Amazon and 170 Microsoft questions. The gap is in format and in AI companies. Our bank has 105 Anthropic and 98 OpenAI questions, many derived from those companies' own job descriptions, with a hub per company such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Google.

The other banks, in one line each:

  • Aced (Exponent) lists 2,058 PM questions with answers verified by hiring managers and candidates.
  • StellarPeers opens 1,200+ questions on its free plan, with 60+ solved questions on paid plans.
  • Product Alliance covers 800+ questions across 50 companies inside its company deep dives course.

PM Exercises' genuine edge here is volume of community answers, though users are split on quality: one 2025 Reddit reply called the material "subpar", another "very helpful".

A question page on AllthingsPM showing Practice this question out loud with Start a mock interview and Mock interview from a job description buttons, followed by the answer guide
An AllthingsPM question page: answer guide plus a one-click scored mock, September 2026

How AllthingsPM does this: open any company hub, pick a question such as How would you improve Google Maps?, and you get the answer guide and a mock on the same page. For focused drills, our guides to metrics interview questions and product sense interview questions point you to the right questions by type.

If you wanted feedback on your answers: which alternative is best?

AllthingsPM. This is the biggest gap in PM Exercises. Its feedback comes from people: post an answer and wait for comments, book a peer, or pay a coach. That feedback can be rich, but it is slow and costs time or money every time.

Our mock interview asks the question, pushes back with follow-ups ("why that segment?", "what would you cut?") and scores your answer the moment you finish, by text or voice. You can switch between typing and speaking inside one session.

The other AI options:

  • Aced (Exponent) has AI mock interviews and AI feedback, but only on the Expert plan: $20 a month billed annually or $99 month to month. Pro at $79 month to month does not include them.
  • PMMockr has an AI interviewer with a detailed framework report and unlimited mocks on its free question set. We did not find a way to build a mock from a job description there.

How AllthingsPM does this: AI mocks are in every plan, including the free tier, which gives you one JD mock a day. On Pro, ten scored reps on metrics questions in one evening is a normal session, with no booking and no waiting for a comment thread. See our roundup of the best AI mock interview tools for product managers for the wider field.

If you wanted practice for a specific company or role: which alternative is best?

AllthingsPM. PM Exercises offers 150+ company practice plans, which tell you what a company tends to ask. That is company level. A Growth PM loop and a Safety PM loop at the same AI lab test very different things, and the job description is the best public clue to which.

Our JD mock takes the posting you paste and builds the interview around that role's responsibilities, product area and seniority. The jobs catalog holds 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic, each with its own mock. Of the AI mock tools we reviewed, only 4 build mocks from a job description, and AllthingsPM is the only one that also has a course, a question bank and live JDs.

How AllthingsPM does this: start from the role, not a generic list. Run the free JD resume review against the posting, then the JD mock on the same posting, so the stories you tell match the bullets the interviewer already read. If you are still hunting for roles, Resume Job Match finds live postings that fit your background.

If you wanted peer mocks: which alternative is best?

For free human peers, StellarPeers is the strongest option we found: its free plan includes unlimited peer mock interviews through a shared calendar, with paid plans from $79 a month to $180 a year. Aced also runs Pramp's old peer mocks, with 5 free sessions a month on its Basic plan.

Peer mocks are good for delivery and nerves. Their weakness is the one PM Exercises users already know: a stranger's schedule and a stranger's feedback quality.

How AllthingsPM does this: AllthingsPM has no peer mocks. It has an AI interviewer that is ready at 2am and scores every answer against the question or job you chose. The practical setup is AllthingsPM for daily reps and one StellarPeers session a week for a human read of your delivery.

If you wanted a coach: which alternative is best?

PM Exercises' coaches cost about $200 an hour. Prepfully is the main alternative: on September 25, 2026, its first page of PM coaches from Google, Meta, Netflix and Waymo charged $189 to $299 for a first session. Aced coaching is $249 a session.

A coach session is most valuable late in your prep, once you already know the frameworks and want calibration. Spending $200 to learn that your metrics answer lacked a guardrail metric is expensive; an AI mock tells you that for free.

How AllthingsPM does this: do the volume on AllthingsPM so a coach hour goes on polish, not basics. Our lessons on the AI product sense and execution rounds and the AI PRD and success metrics cover the structure; the mocks make you say it out loud until it holds up.

If you wanted a course or AI PM training: which alternative is best?

AllthingsPM. PM Exercises sells a "100+ hrs" PM interview course inside Interview Prep and separate AI PM training (a live cohort and self-paced courses) at $399 a year, or $499 a year for both.

Our AI PM course is included in Pro: 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies, built backwards from 604 real PM job postings and updated weekly. Chapters such as Discovery and strategy for AI products and Prove it paid off map onto what AI PM loops test. The knowledge graph shows how the concepts connect.

Product Alliance is the other course option: 11 video courses, $379 each or $429 for all 11, with lifetime access. It has no live practice, so you still need mocks.

How AllthingsPM does this: course, question bank, JD mocks and jobs share one login, so the loop is learn the concept, answer the question, then rehearse the real JD. For your commute, podcast summaries and book summaries such as Decode and Conquer sit in the same account.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for PM Exercises alternatives

Most people leaving PM Exercises want the same bank of questions plus something it does not give them: feedback on their own answers, practice for the exact role, and a lower bill. AllthingsPM covers all three.

  • The bank. 4,122 questions from 260 companies, each with its own page and answer guide, including 105 Anthropic and 98 OpenAI questions.
  • The feedback. An AI interviewer that follows up and scores you by text or voice, in every plan.
  • The role. Mocks from any job description, plus 116 live AI company roles with their own mocks and resume review against each JD.
  • The learning. An AI PM course built from 604 job postings, a knowledge graph, 111 book summaries, podcast summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
  • The price. $120 a year or $20 a month, against $149 a year for PM Exercises' interview prep alone.

Fair to the rivals: PM Exercises has a big community, StellarPeers has free human peers, Prepfully has coaches from your target company, Product Alliance has polished company videos and Aced has a large course library. Each covers one slice. None of them scores your answer on any of 4,000+ questions, builds a mock from your JD and includes an AI PM course for $120 a year.

Verdict: switch your daily practice to AllthingsPM, and add a single peer or coach session near the end if you want a human read. For a head to head, read AllthingsPM vs PM Exercises, or compare the wider market in Exponent alternatives and the best PM mock interview platforms.
