Product Alliance vs Exponent vs PM Exercises: the three most-debated PM prep tools

For most PM candidates, AllthingsPM beats Product Alliance, Aced (Exponent) and PM Exercises on practice per dollar: JD-based AI mocks, 4,122 real questions and an AI PM course for $120 a year. Product Alliance ($379 per course) stays strongest for one FAANG loop.

AllthingsPM·September 26, 2026·15 min read
A product manager at a desk facing three objects in a row: a stack of video cassettes, two chairs set up for a practice interview, and a thick binder of question cards
Three tools, three different gaps they fill.

Short answer: if you want the most interview practice for your money, start with AllthingsPM: AI mock interviews built from any job description, 4,122 real questions from 260 companies with an answer guide on each, and an AI PM course, for $20 a month or $120 a year with a free tier. Of the three famous names, Product Alliance is the pick for company-specific content at one FAANG company ($379 per course, $429 for all 11 on sale, no refunds), Aced (the new name for Exponent) for peer mocks and human coaches ($144 to $240 a year billed yearly), and PM Exercises for a large community question bank ($149 a year).

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform.

How AllthingsPM compares on practice per dollar

The advice that recurs across every thread we read is some version of this Levels.fyi reply: "Mock like crazy and use product alliance to polish your answers." Practice is the thing that moves the outcome, so we rank on practice per dollar.

  • Mocks from your real job description. Paste any JD into a JD mock and the AI interviewer asks the questions that role implies, follows up, and scores you, by text or voice. Only 4 tools we found do JD-based mocks, and we are the only one that also has a course, a question bank and live JDs.
  • Every question has a page and an answer guide. Our question bank holds 4,122 reported questions from 260 companies, with a hub per company: Google (948), Meta (757), Amazon (274).
  • Built for AI PM roles. The AI PM course has 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies built from 604 real PM job postings and updated weekly. The jobs catalog lists 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, each with its own mock.
  • Everything else in one place. Resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
  • Price. $120 a year is less than a third of one Product Alliance course and half of Aced Expert, the Aced plan that includes AI mocks.

What we do not have: human coaches, peer-to-peer mocks and FAANG-taught company video courses. If those are your gap, the options below cover them.

How much does each cost in 2026?

AllthingsPM has a free tier, then $20 a month or $120 a year (INR 1,200 a month or 8,400 a year).

Product Alliance charges $379 for any single course; all 11 cost $429 on the September 2026 sale price, against a $999 list price. It is one-time with lifetime access. Its FAQ says it does not offer refunds; it posts full-length sample videos instead.

Aced has a free Basic plan, Pro at $79 a month or $144 a year, and Expert at $99 a month or $240 a year, which adds AI mock interviews and an AI coach. Coaching is extra, from $249 a session.

PM Exercises sells Interview Prep at $149 a year (₹9,995 in India), Become an AI-native PM at $399, both for $499, and a question-bank-only Lite plan at $139 once. It is the only one of the three that showed rupee prices when we checked; our Exponent vs PM Exercises comparison covers India pricing in detail.

For a full year of AI mock interviews, AllthingsPM ($120) costs half of Aced Expert ($240), and neither Product Alliance nor PM Exercises offers an AI interviewer we could find.

Bar chart of up-front cost in US dollars, AllthingsPM first: AllthingsPM free tier $0, one month $20, billed yearly $120; Aced Basic $0, Aced Pro one month $79, PM Exercises Lite $139, Aced Pro yearly $144, PM Exercises Interview Prep $149, Aced Expert yearly $240, Product Alliance one course $379, all 11 courses $429, PM Exercises Interview Prep plus AI PM $499
AllthingsPM costs least up front. Source: each company's live pricing page, checked September 26, 2026. AllthingsPM prices from allthingspm.app/pricing

How AllthingsPM does this. One plan, one price: $20 a month or $120 a year covers the JD mock, the full question bank, the AI PM course and resume review. There is no per-course fee and no add-on for AI mocks. Start on the free tier, run one JD mock and one resume review a day, and upgrade only if the daily reps are working for you.

Which has the best content for Google, Meta and Amazon?

For pure company video content, Product Alliance. Each flagship course (Google, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, TikTok) runs 12 to 17 hours, and the December 2024 Levels.fyi poll went Product Alliance 18 votes (69%), Exponent 5 (19%), PM Exercises 3 (12%). One reply in that thread set the limit:

"If you are interviewing at one of the FAANGs that Product Alliance has a dedicated course for, it's a worthwhile investment. If you are interviewing for a company without a dedicated PA course, you can probably get 75% of the way there just watching free Exponent videos on YouTube."

Twenty-six votes is a signal, not evidence, and a 2025 r/ProductManagement thread on whether Product Alliance was worth it drew replies like "don't believe the shills." Watch its free samples before paying $379 you cannot get back.

A cheaper route to the same goal: browse the free company hub for your target, then run mocks on those questions. On AllthingsPM that is free to start and covers 260 companies, not seven.

How AllthingsPM does this. Open the Google hub and you get 948 reported questions, each with an answer guide. The Meta hub has 757 and Amazon 274. Pick five from your target company's hub, answer each in a mock, and read the guide after, not before. That loop is what the Levels.fyi thread recommended: fewer videos, more reps.

Which helps you practice the most?

  • AllthingsPM: AI mocks on any question or any JD, any time, scored with follow-ups, on the $120 a year plan and free once a day.
  • Aced: daily peer mocks (5 a month free, unlimited on Pro); its AI interviewer needs the $240 Expert plan, and one senior PM on r/FAANGrecruiting in 2026 called it "decent but only 20 mins long." Peer mocks with a real person are Aced's real strength; use them alongside daily AI reps.
  • PM Exercises: peer mocks and group practice in Interview Prep; no AI interviewer found.
  • Product Alliance: no mock product; finding partners is on you.

How AllthingsPM does this. Our mock interviewer asks the question, pushes back with follow-ups the way a real interviewer does, and then scores the answer so you know what to fix. Type when you are drafting structure; switch to voice when you want to rehearse delivery. Because the mock is built from the JD, the questions follow what that role actually asks for.

A mini plan you can run today, free:

  1. Copy the job description for your next interview.
  2. Paste it into the JD mock and answer the first question out loud.
  3. Read the score and note your weakest area.
  4. Open your target company's hub in the question bank and pick three questions that hit that area.
  5. Tomorrow, run another mock on one of them and compare the score.

Which has the best question bank?

AllthingsPM has the largest of the four: 4,122 questions from 260 companies, each on its own page with an answer guide. PM Exercises lists 3,185 across 230 companies with mostly community answers, and a January 2025 subscriber complained of writing long answers with no instant feedback. Aced lists 2,040 with community answers; in a 2025 r/ProductManagement thread one reply called Aced "better for the material" and PM Exercises material "subpar." Product Alliance does not sell a browsable bank.

How AllthingsPM does this. Every one of our 4,122 questions has its own page with an answer guide, so you get guidance on structure without waiting for a stranger to comment, and you can practice any of them in a mock. Community answers can be useful, but quality varies with whoever happened to answer; a consistent guide plus a scored attempt is a faster loop.

Which is best for AI product manager interviews?

AllthingsPM is the one built for it: a course from 604 real PM postings, 116 live AI-company JDs each with a mock, and our AI PM interview questions guide and State of AI PM Hiring 2026 report. PM Exercises offers AI PM certificates (its bank had 42 AI questions when checked), and Aced's 2026 PM course covers evals and AI fluency. A certificate will not carry an AI PM loop; judgment on evals, agents and model tradeoffs under follow-up questions will.

How AllthingsPM does this. Our AI PM course is built from what real postings ask for: 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies, updated weekly. Then the jobs catalog lets you pick one of 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies and run a mock built from that exact JD. Learning and practice point at the same job, which none of the three rivals offers.

AllthingsPM works as the base for almost everyone, because it is the only one of the four that gives you scored mocks built from your own job description, a per-company question bank with answer guides, and an AI PM course in one $120 a year plan. Add Product Alliance only for one flagship FAANG loop, or Aced only if you want human partners. Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for PM interview prep

The three famous names each solve one slice of the problem. AllthingsPM covers the whole loop in one plan, at the lowest price of the four.

  • Practice that matches your interview. Mocks are built from the job description you paste, scored, with follow-ups, by text or voice. That is what every forum thread we read says matters most.
  • Breadth. 4,122 questions from 260 companies, each with an answer guide, against seven flagship companies at Product Alliance.
  • AI PM depth. A course built from 604 real PM job postings and 116 live AI-company JDs with a mock each.
  • Everything around the interview. Resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
  • Price. $120 a year, with a free tier to prove it works first.

To be fair to each rival: Product Alliance has the deepest company video courses for seven FAANG-style companies, Aced has real human peers and paid coaches, and PM Exercises has a large community and rupee pricing. None of those replaces daily scored practice on your own JD, and each costs more for less of it.

Verdict: start with AllthingsPM for almost any PM loop, and add a rival only for the one narrow gap it fills. Run your first free JD mock now.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best PM interview prep tool: Product Alliance, Exponent or PM Exercises?

AllthingsPM first. We recommend it as the base, because it combines JD-based AI mocks, 4,122 questions and an AI PM course for $120 a year. Among the three, Product Alliance is best for FAANG company content, Aced (Exponent) for peer mocks and coaches, and PM Exercises for a community question bank.

Which is the cheapest?

AllthingsPM has a free tier and costs $120 a year. Aced Pro is $144 a year, PM Exercises Interview Prep $149 a year, and Product Alliance $379 per course, one-time. Competitor prices checked September 26, 2026.

Do any of them offer refunds?

Aced offers a full refund within 5 days and PM Exercises a 7-day money-back guarantee. Product Alliance does not offer refunds. AllthingsPM has a free tier so you can try before paying.

Is Exponent the same as Aced?

Yes. Exponent announced in 2026 that it is becoming Aced. The site is still tryexponent.com.

Is Product Alliance worth it if I am not interviewing at FAANG?

Probably not. Its advantage is flagship courses for seven companies. For others, a question bank covering 260 companies plus mocks on those questions gets you further for less.
