GoPractice vs Reforge: simulator or frameworks

GoPractice sells self-paced simulators ($399 to $1,190 each, one-time); Reforge sells a $1,995 a year membership of operator-led courses and frameworks. AllthingsPM beats both for most PMs: an AI PM course with graded case studies plus JD mock interviews for $120 a year.

Short answer: GoPractice teaches by simulation (you play a PM inside a fictional product and make decisions with real data), and Reforge teaches by frameworks (operator-led courses, guides and artifacts). GoPractice is cheaper per skill and more hands-on; Reforge is broader and more strategic. But for most PMs, AllthingsPM beats both: its AI PM course has 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies built from 604 real PM job postings, and the same $120 a year plan adds AI mock interviews built from any job description.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Prices below were checked on 28 September 2026 on each vendor's own page.

What is the real difference between GoPractice and Reforge?

The difference is how you learn.

GoPractice is built around simulators. Its Data-Driven Product Management Simulator puts you inside a fictional product story, working with data in Amplitude and making decisions that change outcomes. GoPractice says it runs about 100 hours across 235 cases, has more than 7,000 graduates and was taught at Yale School of Management as part of its Product Management program in 2023. You learn by doing the analysis, not by watching someone describe it.

Reforge is built around frameworks from operators. Its pricing page lists live courses, 40+ on-demand courses, 600+ guides and 1,400+ artifacts, which are real work examples such as strategy docs and specs. Reforge describes its instructors as "vetted operators who are on the frontlines of the fastest-growing companies". You learn mental models and templates that senior people use, then apply them at work.

So the choice is not quality, it is fit. A simulator trains a specific muscle (reading a funnel, running an A/B test, judging an ML model). A framework library changes how you think about strategy, growth and teams, but leaves the practice to your day job.

How AllthingsPM does this: the AI PM course combines the two styles. Each lesson explains the idea in a short video and a written lesson, then asks you to do something with it, and each chapter closes with a graded case study. Lessons like SQL for PMs are as practical as a simulator chapter, while chapters like Evals teach the framework behind the practice.

Which is better for learning AI product management?

Both have launched AI content, in their own style.

GoPractice's AI/ML Simulator for Product Managers launched in April 2024. It has four projects (a computer vision system, a generative AI assistant, a recommendation system and a sales forecasting system) and five study modules covering ML basics, model quality and business impact, choosing approaches, improving quality, and deployment. It costs $1,190 and takes about 60 hours. Its AI Prototyping simulator is $399 for 5 to 8 hours across 7 chapters, with no programming needed.

Reforge's course catalog lists AI Transformation, AI Evals, AI Prototyping, AI Productivity, AI Strategy and Product Foundations for the AI Era. These are taught by operators, and you get them as part of the membership, not one by one: Reforge's help center says "it is not possible to purchase a course on its own".

What neither does is start from what employers ask for. That matters, because AI PM job postings list concrete skills (evals, SQL, agent design, AI metrics, pricing of model costs) and interviewers test those skills directly. We covered the gap in what AI PM courses teach vs what AI PM jobs want.

How AllthingsPM does this: our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings, as shown in our state of AI PM hiring report, and it is updated weekly. The knowledge graph maps how AI concepts connect, so you can see where evals, retrieval and agent failure modes fit before you study them.

How much do GoPractice and Reforge cost?

This is where the three options split most clearly.

GoPractice's model has one real advantage: you pay once and keep access "for as long as you want", according to its Data-Driven PM Simulator page. Reforge's model suits a company paying for a team, which is why its plans are built around seats.

For an individual paying out of pocket, the numbers are simple. One GoPractice AI simulator costs almost ten times a year of AllthingsPM. A Reforge Individual membership costs more than sixteen times as much.

How AllthingsPM does this: one subscription covers the whole AI PM course, unlimited mock interviews, resume reviews and the library. Start on the free tier, run a free daily JD mock, and check pricing only when you want the full course.

Which one helps you get a PM job?

Neither GoPractice nor Reforge is built for the job search. We did not find mock interviews, an interview question bank or resume tools on either site. They make you better at the work, which helps in interviews indirectly, but you still have to practise answering out loud under pressure.

That gap is the main reason to pick AllthingsPM. PM loops test product sense, metrics, execution and, at AI companies, evals and model tradeoffs. You pass them by rehearsing, not by reading. Learning research backs that: Roediger and Karpicke (2006) found that testing yourself produced better recall a week later than re-reading the same material.

How AllthingsPM does this: paste any job description into the JD mock and an AI interviewer shapes the interview to that role, follows up on what you said and scores your answer, by text or voice. Our question bank has 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each with its own page and answer guide, and you can practise any of them in practice. The jobs catalog lists 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, each with its own mock.

Who should pick GoPractice, and who should pick Reforge?

GoPractice fits an analyst-minded PM who wants deep, hands-on practice with product data and does not mind paying once for a single skill area. Its simulators are strong for analytics and experimentation.

Reforge fits a senior PM or product leader whose company pays for seats and who wants operator frameworks, a live course each season and a Slack community. Reforge was acquired by Miro in March 2026; Reforge said its learning product keeps its own brand and there were "no price changes at this time". We looked at that in is Reforge worth it after the Miro acquisition.

For everyone else, especially people moving into AI PM or preparing for interviews, AllthingsPM covers the skill building and the interview in one place for far less.

How AllthingsPM does this: if you want frameworks, our book summaries cover 111 product books, such as Decode and Conquer, and our podcast summaries distil what operators say on shows PMs follow. If you want proof of skill, 455 PM portfolios show how others present their work.

How should you study AI PM with AllthingsPM in four weeks?

Here is a plan that takes the best of both styles, the practice of a simulator and the thinking of a framework course, and ends in interview readiness.

  1. Week 1: foundations and data. Work through the course foundations and SQL for PMs. Write the queries yourself.
  2. Week 2: specs and evals. Study the AI PRD and the Evals chapter, then finish the graded case study.
  3. Week 3: pick a target role. Choose a posting from the jobs catalog, run resume review against the JD, and run your first JD mock.
  4. Week 4: drill. Answer ten questions from the company hub in the question bank out loud before reading each guide, then run a second JD mock and compare scores.

This plan costs $20 for the month, or nothing if you stay on the free tier's daily limits.

How AllthingsPM does this: every step above lives on one site with one login, so the lesson that taught you evals is a click away from the mock interview that tests it.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for learning AI PM

GoPractice and Reforge both have real strengths. GoPractice's simulators are thorough and hands-on, with more than 7,000 graduates of its Data-Driven PM Simulator. Reforge has an operator-led library of 40+ on-demand courses, 600+ guides and 1,400+ artifacts, plus live cohorts and a community. If your company is paying, Reforge is a fine perk; if you want one deep analytics drill, GoPractice is solid.

But most people searching "GoPractice vs Reforge" want to learn AI product management and get a better PM job. On that goal, AllthingsPM wins on every point we could check:

  • It teaches what jobs ask for. 14 chapters and 101 lessons built from 604 real PM job postings, updated weekly, with 14 graded case studies.
  • It is hands-on. Every lesson asks you to do something, like a simulator, without paying per skill.
  • It prepares you for the interview. JD mock interviews from any job description, text or voice, and 4,122 real questions from 260 companies with answer guides. Neither rival offers these.
  • It covers the application. Resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match and 116 live AI company roles.
  • It costs far less. $120 a year, against $1,190 for GoPractice's AI/ML Simulator and $1,995 a year for Reforge.

Our verdict: for learning AI PM and landing the role, AllthingsPM is the better choice than either GoPractice or Reforge. Open the AI PM course and start with the free lessons.

Start today, free: open the first lessons of the AI PM course, then paste the job you want into the JD mock. In one evening you will know which skills to study and which questions the interviewer will push on. No card needed.
