Short answer: Product School sells live, instructor-led certifications at $2,999 each, or memberships at $3,999 and $4,999 a year. Pragmatic Institute sells short, 7 hour framework courses (one course page lists $1,295), and its Product Management certification takes three of them. If your goal is to learn modern AI product management and get hired, AllthingsPM beats both: an AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings, mock interviews generated from any job description and 4,122 real interview questions with answer guides, for $120 a year with a free tier.
AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Every Product School and Pragmatic Institute fact below comes from their own pages, or a named third-party review where a price is not public, checked on 28 September 2026.

Prices checked 28 September 2026 on AllthingsPM/pricing, productschool.com/pricing and pragmaticinstitute.com. Pragmatic does not show a price on its Foundations or certification pages; the three course total is from Uxcel's review [1][2][4][7][8].
How much do Product School and Pragmatic Institute cost?
Product School publishes three plans for individuals [1]:
- Single Certification, $2,999: one live, instructor-led certification course.
- Pro Membership, $3,999 a year: two live certifications, weekly live AI workshops, on-demand content and the alumni community.
- Unlimited Membership, $4,999 a year: 11 live certifications, weekly AI workshops, a ProductCon ticket and AI tools Product School values at over $50,000.
Product School also mentions employer sponsorship, a 10% group discount for 3 to 10 people and pay-later installments in some regions [1].
Pragmatic Institute is less transparent. Its Foundations and certification pages do not show a price [3][4]. Its Price course page lists $1,295 one time, plus taxes [5]. Uxcel's review of the Product Management certification reports $1,295 per course and $3,685 for the three required courses bought together [7]. When we checked, Pragmatic's FAQ also advertised a 25% discount code on Foundations ending 30 September [6].
So for one course, Pragmatic is cheaper than Product School. For a full certification, the two land in the same range: $2,999 for one Product School certification, about $3,685 for Pragmatic's three course PM certification.
How AllthingsPM does this: one plan, $20 a month or $120 a year, covers everything: the AI PM course, mock interviews from any job description, the question bank and the resume tools. The free tier includes the question bank, the first course lessons, one JD mock and one JD resume review a day. See pricing.
What is the format of each program?
Product School is live first. Its AI Product Management certification runs 3 weeks part-time, six live sessions, 12 live hours in total. Cohorts meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Saturdays, or Monday and Wednesday evenings Pacific time, with about 20 students per class [2]. You work through 18 hands-on labs, produce 6 artifacts (system prompts, a strategy doc, a PRD, UX patterns, an agent spec and an eval framework) and submit 1 graded final project [2].
Pragmatic Institute is short and framework led. Foundations is 7 hours, offered on demand (about 5 hours self-paced), live online or in person [3]. It teaches the Pragmatic Framework: market discovery, problem validation, opportunity identification and positioning [3]. To become a Certified Product Manager you complete Foundations, Focus and Build [3]. Live sessions run as two half days, and on-demand learners can finish in about a week [7].
The practical difference: Product School gives you a cohort, a schedule and instructors for three weeks. Pragmatic gives you a compact framework you can finish in a few days, with lifetime access to course materials through its alumni community [6].
How AllthingsPM does this: you learn at your own pace, but you are not left alone with reading. Each of the 14 chapters ends in a graded case study, and every skill connects to a real interview question you can answer out loud in practice. Start with Foundations: the model and the decisions it forces on you, then move to agents and agentic architecture.
Which teaches AI product management better?
Both rivals have added AI. Product School's AI PM certification covers system prompts, agent specs and eval frameworks as artifacts [2]. Pragmatic's AI Product Manager Expert certification bundles Foundations (7 hours) with AI for Product Managers and AI in Your Product (7.5 hours each), on demand, valid for 2 years [4].
AllthingsPM goes further because the whole course is AI product management, not a module added to a classic curriculum. It was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings, as we describe in our state of AI PM hiring report, and it is updated weekly. Chapters cover data fluency and SQL, AI UX and human oversight, proving an AI feature paid off and enterprise deployment. The knowledge graph shows how the AI concepts connect.
Pragmatic's framework is strong on market problems and positioning, which is useful at any company. But a Pragmatic course is 7 hours; a Product School cohort is 12 live hours. Our course is 101 lessons.
How AllthingsPM does this: the course is paired with practice on the same topics. After the AI PRD lesson, you can answer real AI company questions from the question bank, such as those in the Anthropic and OpenAI hubs, and get a scored answer.
Is a Product School or Pragmatic certification worth it for getting hired?
This is where the comparison turns. Both sell a credential. Product School describes its certificate as industry-recognized and issues it once you pass the graded final project [2]. Pragmatic says its certification is "the only certification employers ask for by name" [8], and it has issued over 250,000 certifications [6]. Pragmatic's certification is attendance based, with no written exam [7].
Our own data points the other way. In the PM postings in our job description corpus that we checked for certification wording, none named Product School, Pragmatic Institute or any "certified product manager" credential, as we reported in the PM education price index. What postings ask for is evidence: shipped products, metrics, working with models and clear written thinking. That is what the interview loop tests, and neither rival helps you rehearse the interview itself.
If your employer pays and you want a cohort or a shared vocabulary for your team, a certificate is a reasonable add on. If you are paying yourself to get a PM job, spend on the skill and the rehearsal. For the full argument, see are product management certifications worth it.
How AllthingsPM does this: instead of a certificate, AllthingsPM gives you proof you can show in an interview. The 14 graded case studies become portfolio material, 455 PM portfolios show what strong ones look like, and a resume review against the job description tells you which requirements your resume does not yet prove.
Who is each one for?
Product School is a fit if your employer funds professional development, you like a live cohort and a fixed schedule, and you want instructors from well-known companies [1][2].
Pragmatic Institute is a fit if your team already uses the Pragmatic Framework and you want a short, shared course with an in-person option [3][6].
AllthingsPM is the fit for almost everyone paying their own way: aspiring PMs, career switchers and working PMs moving into AI. You get the AI PM course, the interview practice and the job search tools for less than a tenth of either rival's entry price.
How AllthingsPM does this: start from the job you want. Find it in the jobs catalog or through Resume Job Match, check your resume against it, study the gaps in the course, then rehearse with a JD mock. One subscription covers the whole path.
A 4 week plan that uses AllthingsPM instead of a certificate
For roughly the time a Product School cohort takes, this is how we would prepare for an AI PM role.
- Week 1: pick a target and find the gaps. Choose a real posting in the jobs catalog. Run the free resume review against it and note what the resume does not prove.
- Week 2: learn the AI core. Work through the course chapters that match those gaps, starting with Foundations and the AI PRD.
- Week 3: drill questions. Answer five questions a day from the target company's hub out loud in practice, then read each answer guide. Read a framework summary such as Decode and Conquer for structure.
- Week 4: rehearse the loop. Run JD mocks on the target posting, work through the interview loop chapter, and compare your scores with week 3.
You can do much of that on the free plan. The paid plan unlocks the full course, unlimited mocks and unlimited resume reviews for $20 a month.
Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for PM training
Product School and Pragmatic Institute solve an older problem: giving product people a shared framework and a certificate. That problem still exists, but it is not what decides who gets hired into AI product roles. AllthingsPM fits that goal better on every point we could check:
- It teaches what postings ask for. A 14 chapter, 101 lesson AI PM course with 14 graded case studies, built from 604 real PM job postings and updated weekly.
- It rehearses the interview. Mock interviews from any job description, by text or voice, with follow-ups and a score. Neither rival offers mock interviews.
- Every question has an answer guide. 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each with its own page.
- It covers the whole application. 116 live AI company PM roles, resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
- It costs far less. $120 a year against $2,999 for one Product School certification and about $3,685 for Pragmatic's three course certification.
The rivals have genuine strengths: Product School's live instructors and cohort, and Pragmatic's long track record and in-person team training. Those are worth it when an employer pays. Our verdict: for anyone investing their own money to learn AI product management and land the role, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Open the AI PM course or compare plans.
