StellarPeers vs Pramp: free peer mock interviews for PMs, compared

StellarPeers gives PMs unlimited free peer mocks on a community calendar; Pramp now runs inside Aced with 5 free peer credits a month at 4 fixed PM times. AllthingsPM beats both for daily prep: AI mocks built from any job description, any hour, with a free JD mock every day.

AllthingsPM·September 28, 2026·15 min read
Two product managers on a video call sit across a split screen, one asking from a blank card while the other sketches on a whiteboard, with an empty third chair beside the desk
Two ways to find a practice partner, and one way to skip the wait.

Short answer: between the two peer platforms, StellarPeers is the better pick for product managers: its free plan has unlimited peer mocks and it is built only for PM interviews, while Pramp now lives inside Aced (formerly Exponent) with 5 free peer credits a month and PM sessions at four fixed Pacific times. But if your goal is daily, role-specific practice, AllthingsPM beats both: an AI interviewer you can start at any hour, built from the exact job description you paste, that follows up and scores you, with a free JD mock every day.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. StellarPeers and Pramp facts below come from each vendor's own pages, checked on September 28, 2026.

How do StellarPeers and Pramp actually work?

Both are peer mock platforms: two candidates meet on video and take turns as interviewer and candidate. The difference is in the scheduling and who you meet.

StellarPeers is a PM community. Members "schedule practice interviews through the StellarPeers mock interview calendar" and practise with other participants. A valid LinkedIn profile is required for calendar access, because, in StellarPeers' words, "users want to know who they are practicing with." Free members can also observe other members' mocks.

Pramp was the classic free peer site. Its homepage now says: "As of July 2024, all new Pramp sessions are hosted on Exponent Practice." Aced's practice page puts it plainly: "Pramp is now Aced (formerly Exponent)." A session runs about an hour, and "you and your partner [interview] each other for approximately 30 minutes each." For product management, sessions start at 2 AM, 8 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM Pacific time.

So on Pramp you fit your prep around four daily slots and spend half of each hour as the interviewer. On StellarPeers you book around other members' calendars.

How AllthingsPM does this: there is no partner to book. Open the JD mock, paste a posting, and the AI interviewer starts. You are the candidate for the whole session, and you can switch between typing and speaking at any point.

Which is better for PM interviews specifically?

Between the two, StellarPeers. It was built for product managers: its content is organised "by company, question type, and subtype," and paid plans add frameworks for Amazon, Meta and Google, solved cases and coaching videos. Your peer is also preparing for PM interviews, so you are more likely to get a relevant partner.

Pramp covers several interview types inside Aced, with product management as one track. The PM slots are fixed, and your peer is whoever is free at that time.

But "for PMs" is not the same as "for your role." A Growth PM loop and an AI platform PM loop at the same company test different things, and neither peer platform builds the interview from the posting you applied to.

How AllthingsPM does this: the JD mock shapes the interview to the responsibilities and seniority in any job description. Our jobs catalog lists 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic, each with its own mock. Company hubs such as Google and Meta collect the real questions, each with an answer guide.

How good is the feedback from a peer?

This is the core weakness of both platforms. Your interviewer is another candidate. They can tell you whether your structure was clear, but not reliably whether your answer would pass a Meta or Google product sense bar.

The partner lottery is real. Final Round AI's review of Pramp reports that among experienced users "30% were excellent, 50% were adequate, and 20% were poor due to unprepared or disengaged partners," and that "approximately 1 in 5 Pramp sessions ends in a no-show." Aced returns your credit if a session is cancelled before it starts, but a missed slot still costs you hours when the next PM session is later in the day.

StellarPeers has community rules for no shows and late cancellations, which tells you the problem exists there too. One candidate on r/APMprograms said about half of their peer partners did no prep at all.

Aced does offer AI feedback with "realistic hiring rubrics" on practice sessions, but its practice page says that feature is limited to paid members.

How AllthingsPM does this: the AI interviewer never arrives unprepared. It follows up on what you actually said ("why that segment?", "what would you cut first?") and scores you when you finish. To see what interviewers score before you practise, read our course lesson on the AI product sense and execution rounds.

Bar chart of paid plan prices in US dollars with AllthingsPM (us) highlighted first: one month $20 against $79 for StellarPeers and $79 for an Aced membership; one year $120 against $180 and $144

What that means:

  • On free plans, StellarPeers beats Pramp for human reps: unlimited peer mocks against a handful of monthly credits.
  • On paid plans, AllthingsPM is the cheapest of the three: $20 a month against $79 on both, and $120 a year against $180 and $144.
  • What you pay for differs. StellarPeers' paid plan buys frameworks and videos, not better mocks. Aced's membership buys unlimited peer sessions. AllthingsPM's buys unlimited scored AI mocks plus a full course.

How AllthingsPM does this: one subscription covers the mocks, the whole AI PM course, unlimited resume reviews and the library of book summaries. Start on the free tier and look at pricing only after a free JD mock has shown you it helps.

Why does practice volume matter more than the platform?

Because interview answers are retrieval under pressure. Roediger and Karpicke (2006) found that students who tested themselves remembered more a week later than students who re-read the material. Every mock is a test.

Peer platforms cap your volume. Each rep needs a partner, a slot and an hour, half of which you spend interviewing someone else. On Pramp's free plan, a single week of daily practice would burn most of a month's credits.

Candidates notice. One PM candidate on Reddit described running more than 60 timed voice AI rounds because "peer mocks weren't reliable, everyone's busy and you don't get high quality feedback."

How AllthingsPM does this: every one of our 4,122 questions in the question bank has its own page with an answer guide. Answer out loud in practice, get follow-ups and a score, then read the guide on the same page and go again. That test-then-review loop is what the research rewards.

Which is better for AI PM roles?

AllthingsPM, clearly. AI company loops increasingly probe evals, model trade-offs, agent failure modes and AI product metrics. A peer who has never shipped an AI product will struggle to ask those follow-ups, and neither StellarPeers' frameworks nor Pramp's shared questions are built around AI roles.

Our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings and is updated weekly. Lessons such as the AI PRD teach the skills, and the knowledge graph maps how the concepts connect. For what the labs test, see our Anthropic PM interview guide and OpenAI PM interview guide.

How AllthingsPM does this: pick a live AI company role in the jobs catalog, check your resume against it, run its mock, then study the lesson that matches the follow-up you fumbled. If you are still hunting for roles, Resume Job Match finds openings that fit your resume.

A 7 day plan that uses the best of each

If you like live practice, you do not have to give it up. Here is a week that puts AllthingsPM at the centre and a peer mock where it helps most.

  1. Day 1: resume check. Run a free resume review against your target posting and note the gaps an interviewer will probe.
  2. Day 2: first JD mock. Paste the posting into the JD mock, answer by voice, and write down every follow-up that caught you out.
  3. Day 3: learn the gaps. AI topics go to the AI PM course; core PM topics go to the company's answer guides in the question bank.
  4. Day 4: drill by type. Answer five questions from your target company hub out loud in practice, reading each guide after.
  5. Day 5: second JD mock. Same posting, fresh session. Compare your score with Day 2.
  6. Day 6: one live peer mock. Book a StellarPeers session for a human rep on nerves and presence.
  7. Day 7: review. Skim a framework summary such as Decode and Conquer and rehearse your three best stories.

How AllthingsPM does this: every step above except Day 6 is a page on AllthingsPM, and most of it runs on the free plan. For more options with humans in the loop, see the best PM mock interview platforms, our Pramp alternatives guide and AllthingsPM vs StellarPeers.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for PM mock interviews

StellarPeers vs Pramp is a choice between two ways of finding a partner. StellarPeers wins that contest for PMs: unlimited free peer mocks and PM-only content. Pramp, now inside Aced, has fixed PM slots and metered free credits.

But the partner is the problem both share. Whatever you use has to solve three things: when you can practise, how good the feedback is, and whether the questions match the job you want. AllthingsPM solves all three:

  • When: any hour, instantly, no booking and no no-shows.
  • Feedback: an AI interviewer that follows up on your answer and scores it straight away, plus an answer guide for each of 4,122 real questions from 260 companies.
  • Fit: mocks built from any job description, and 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies with their own mocks.

It also covers what neither peer platform does: a 14 chapter, 101 lesson AI PM course with 14 graded case studies, resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios, for $20 a month or $120 a year with a free tier.

The peer platforms' genuine strength is a live human for free, which is worth one session a week before a final loop. For the daily reps that actually move your score, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start a free JD mock or compare plans.

Start today, free: paste the job description you most want into the JD mock, answer out loud, and after one session you will know exactly where the interviewer will push. No card, no calendar, no partner.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best platform for PM mock interviews?

AllthingsPM, for most candidates: scored AI mocks built from any job description, available any hour, 4,122 real questions with answer guides and an AI PM course, for $20 a month with a free JD mock every day. For free live human practice, add StellarPeers once a week.

Is StellarPeers or Pramp better for product managers?

StellarPeers. It is built only for PM interviews and its free plan includes unlimited peer mocks. Pramp now runs inside Aced with limited free credits and PM sessions at four fixed Pacific times a day.

Is Pramp still free?

Partly. Pramp sessions now run on Aced (formerly Exponent), which gives free users monthly credits; third-party reviews report 5 a month. Unlimited sessions need a paid Aced membership.

Is StellarPeers free?

Its free plan includes unlimited peer mocks (a LinkedIn profile is required), 1,200+ interview questions, 6 frameworks and 37 solved questions. Paid plans cost $79 a month or $180 a year, and StellarPeers says it does not offer refunds.

Can StellarPeers or Pramp build a mock from a job description?

We did not find that on either site in September 2026. AllthingsPM's JD mock builds the interview from any pasted job description.

Are AI mock interviews as good as peer mocks?

For volume and consistency, yes: the AI interviewer is always available, always prepared and scores you immediately. A live human is still useful once a week for nerves and presence, on top of daily AllthingsPM practice.
