Short answer: for most PM candidates, AllthingsPM is the better Product Alliance alternative. Product Alliance sells video courses: you watch PMs answer interview questions. AllthingsPM makes you answer them yourself. An AI interviewer asks the question, follows up on what you said and scores you, and it can build the whole mock from the job description you paste. You also get 4,122 real questions from 260 companies with answer guides and an AI PM course, for $20 a month or $120 a year with a free tier. One Product Alliance course costs $379, and there are no refunds.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Every Product Alliance fact below comes from Product Alliance's own live pages, checked on September 26, 2026, or from public forum threads that we link.

What is the real difference between a video course and practice?

Product Alliance's flagship "Hacking the PM Interview" course has 18 hours of video lessons and 62 pages of strategy guides, and its FAQ describes 85 mock interview videos that are "annotated and accompanied by commentary". Across all 11 courses it lists 39 video hours and 300+ pages. That is a lot of good material to watch.

The catch is that a PM interview is not a knowledge test. It is a live conversation where the interviewer pushes on your choices: why that user segment, what would you cut, which metric would you watch if this one moved. You only get good at that by answering out loud and getting pushed.

Learning research backs this up. In Roediger and Karpicke's 2006 study, students who tested themselves remembered more a week later than students who spent the same time re-reading. Watching a strong answer is the video version of re-reading. Answering a question yourself, then comparing with a model answer, is the testing version.

How AllthingsPM does this: pick any question in the question bank, answer it out loud in practice, take the follow-ups, and get a score. Then read the written answer guide on the same page, so every rep ends with a model to compare against. You get the example answer Product Alliance sells, after you have tried the question yourself.

Can Product Alliance run a mock interview with you?

No. We found no AI interviewer, live coaching or peer matching on Product Alliance's site or FAQ; its "mock interviews" are recorded examples of other PMs answering. Candidates who buy it still need a separate way to practice, and a common thread in forum discussions is to spend less time on videos and more on mocks.

That is exactly the gap AllthingsPM fills. Our interviewer lives in one session screen where you can switch between typing and speaking at any point. It asks follow-ups based on what you actually said, not a fixed script, and it ends with a score and notes on what to fix.

The AllthingsPM JD mock page: paste a job description, get a mock interview built for that role and scored
AllthingsPM JD mock: paste any job description and practice for that exact role. allthingspm.app/jd-mock, September 2026

How AllthingsPM does this: paste the posting you are applying to into the JD mock. The interview is shaped to that role's responsibilities and seniority, so a Growth PM loop and a Platform PM loop at the same company feel different, as they do in real life. The free plan includes one a day.

Which covers more companies?

Product Alliance's strength is depth at a short list of companies. It has seven flagship company courses, for Google, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber and TikTok, each with 12 to 16 hours of video and 50 to 200+ recent questions, according to its home page. If your only target is one of those seven, that depth is its real appeal.

AllthingsPM covers 260 companies, each with its own hub. The big ones are well stocked: Google has 948 reported questions, Meta has 757 and Amazon has 274. We also cover the AI labs that Product Alliance does not have a course for, including 105 Anthropic and 98 OpenAI questions.

Every question has its own page with what it tests, an approach and a button to start a mock. For a question like Amazon checkout conversion rate has declined, you can read the guide and then answer it by voice in minutes.

How AllthingsPM does this: open the company hub for your target, sort out the question types that keep coming up, and run scored mocks on them. That works for Google, and it works just as well for a Series B startup or an AI lab with no video course anywhere. For a full Google walkthrough, see our Google PM interview guide.

Which is better for AI PM roles?

AllthingsPM, clearly. AI company loops test things a classic PM course does not teach: evals, model tradeoffs, agent failure modes and AI product metrics. Product Alliance's catalog is built around general PM interviews and big tech companies.

Our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings and is updated weekly: 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies. Lessons such as the product sense round and the AI PRD teach the skills, and the knowledge graph shows how the concepts connect. See what the market asks for in our state of AI PM hiring report.

How AllthingsPM does this: learn a concept in the course, then rehearse it on a real role from our jobs catalog, which lists 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, each with its own mock. For example, Product Manager, Multi-Cloud Growth at Anthropic comes with a mock and a resume check against the same posting.

How much do they cost?

The math that matters: most job searches last a few months. Two months of AllthingsPM is $40. One Product Alliance course is $379 before you have done a single scored mock, and the full bundle is $429. A full year of AllthingsPM, with the course, unlimited mocks and resume reviews, is $120.

Product Alliance's answer is lifetime access and one payment, which its FAQ contrasts with "pay every month subscriptions". That is a fair point if you want to rewatch videos for years. But interview prep is a burst, not a lifetime habit, and a monthly plan lets you stop the day you sign an offer.

How AllthingsPM does this: start on the free plan, run your daily JD mock and read the answer guides. Upgrade on the pricing page only once the free tier has shown you it helps, and cancel when you are done.

What do PMs say about Product Alliance?

Opinions are mixed and honest. In a Levels.fyi thread asking whether Product Alliance is worth it, a Microsoft PM said its product design videos helped and that "the $500 is nothing since I more than doubled my comp moving into tech", while others pointed to cheaper options. In a December 2024 Levels.fyi poll, 18 of 26 voters picked Product Alliance over Exponent and PM Exercises, and one reply said it is worthwhile if you interview at a company with a dedicated course, and that otherwise free videos get you most of the way.

Product Alliance's own pages report its member count and compensation outcomes; the figures differ between its home page and course page, so we do not repeat them here.

How AllthingsPM does this: the one thing every thread agrees on is that you need reps. AllthingsPM gives you unlimited scored reps on paid plans and a free rep every day on the free plan, on the questions and roles you actually face. Pair them with our product sense interview framework and a book summary like Decode and Conquer if you like structured reading.

A 7 day plan with AllthingsPM instead of a video course

  1. Day 1: check your resume against the role. Run the free JD resume review on the posting you want. Note two or three responsibilities your resume does not prove yet.
  2. Day 2: first JD mock. Paste the same posting into the JD mock, answer by voice, and save the follow-ups that caught you out.
  3. Day 3: learn the gaps. AI-specific gaps go to the course; core PM gaps go to the answer guides for that company in the question bank.
  4. Day 4: drill by type. Answer five questions from the company hub out loud in practice before reading each guide.
  5. Day 5: second JD mock. Compare your score and follow-ups with Day 2.
  6. Day 6: widen. Use Resume Job Match to find two similar roles and run a mock on one.
  7. Day 7: review. Write down your three strongest stories and the frameworks that worked.

Most of that week is free. The same week with Product Alliance would start with a $379 purchase and still need a separate way to practice out loud.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for Product Alliance alternatives

People search for a Product Alliance alternative for two reasons: the price, and the fact that watching videos is not the same as interviewing. AllthingsPM answers both.

  • It is practice, not playback. A scored AI interviewer with follow-ups by voice or text, which Product Alliance does not offer.
  • It starts from your role. Mocks built from any job description, plus 116 live AI company PM roles with their own mocks.
  • It covers more ground. 4,122 real questions from 260 companies with answer guides, against seven flagship company courses.
  • It teaches AI PM. A 101 lesson AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings, updated weekly.
  • It costs less and starts free. $120 a year, less than a third of one $379 Product Alliance course, with a free tier instead of a no-refund purchase.

Product Alliance's genuine strength is long, polished video content for seven big tech companies, and some candidates value lifetime access. Useful to watch, but you still have to practice answering. Our verdict: for most PM candidates, and clearly for AI PM roles, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start a free JD mock or compare plans.

Start today, free: pick the job you want most, paste its description into the JD mock, and after one session you will know which follow-ups to prepare for. No card needed.
