AllthingsPM vs RocketBlocks: drills or full mock interviews

AllthingsPM is the better RocketBlocks alternative for most PM candidates: AI mock interviews with follow-ups built from any job description, an AI PM course and 4,122 real questions for $20 a month or $120 a year. RocketBlocks sells written drills with expert sample answers for $35 a month or $155 a year.

Short answer: if you want a RocketBlocks alternative, pick AllthingsPM. AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. Its concrete advantage is the full mock interview: an AI interviewer that asks, follows up on what you actually said and scores you, by voice or text, built from any job description you paste. It adds 4,122 real questions from 260 companies, each with an answer guide, and a 101 lesson AI PM course, for $20 a month or $120 a year with a free tier. RocketBlocks sells skill-building drills with expert sample answers for $35 a month or $155 a year, with human coaching at $200 an hour.

The difference in one line: RocketBlocks trains the pieces of an answer; AllthingsPM makes you perform the whole answer, out loud, under follow-up questions, for the exact role you want. Every RocketBlocks fact below comes from RocketBlocks' own live pages, checked on September 28, 2026.

What is the difference between drills and full mock interviews?

A drill isolates one skill. RocketBlocks describes its PM product as "skill-building drills covering key PM interview topics like product sense and strategy, analytical skills and technical fluency", where you tackle a realistic question, structure your answer and review an expert's answer. That is useful early, when you do not yet know what a good estimation or root cause answer looks like.

A full mock interview is different in one important way: someone reacts to you. You say "I would focus on new users", and the interviewer asks why that segment, what you would cut, how you would measure it. A real PM interview is mostly that back and forth. Drills cannot practise it, because a sample answer does not argue back.

There is also good evidence that answering beats reading. In Roediger and Karpicke's 2006 study, students who tested themselves remembered more a week later than students who re-studied the same material. A mock is the most complete form of self-testing for an interview, because you retrieve frameworks, examples and numbers at once, under time pressure.

So the honest framing is not "drills are bad". It is that drills are one stage, and most candidates need to reach the mock stage quickly.

How AllthingsPM does this: every one of our 4,122 questions has a written answer guide, which covers the "see what good looks like" job that drills do. Then you answer the same question out loud in practice, get follow-ups on what you said, and receive a score. Learning and performing happen on the same page.

How does AllthingsPM's mock interview work?

You start from one of three places: any question in the question bank, any live role in the jobs catalog, or any job description you paste into the JD mock. The AI interviewer shapes the questions to that role's responsibilities, product area and seniority, runs the session like a real interview loop, asks follow-ups and scores you on the competencies interviewers weigh.

AllthingsPM JD mock: paste a job description and get a mock built for that role, September 2026

You can switch between typing and speaking inside the same session. Every session is saved with its transcript and feedback, so you can see where you improved from one attempt to the next.

RocketBlocks' mock content is different in kind: its PM page lists "19 mock interviews and answers from PMs at Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon & more" as video crash courses. Watching a strong candidate is useful, and it is still watching. We did not find a way on RocketBlocks to be interviewed by software and scored on your own words.

How AllthingsPM does this: only 4 tools we found build mocks from a job description, and AllthingsPM is the only one of them that also has a course, a question bank and live JDs. Try it on a real posting such as Product Manager, Growth at Anthropic.

Which covers more PM question types?

Both cover the main families. RocketBlocks lists product sense, estimation, root cause analysis, market opportunity estimation, technical fluency and case studies, plus concept reviews on APIs, databases and tech stacks. That is a sensible map of a classic big tech PM loop.

AllthingsPM covers the same families with real questions reported from real companies: 4,122 of them across 260 companies, each with its own page and answer guide, and a hub per company. For example, the Google hub has 948 questions, and there are root cause questions such as Amazon's 20% drop in daily active users in India and a rise in thumbs down on ChatGPT responses.

That second example matters. AI companies now ask questions that classic drill libraries were not written for: model quality, evals, agent failures, safety tradeoffs. Our bank carries them because it is refreshed from current interviews and job descriptions.

For worked approaches to the classic types, see our guides to product sense interviews and estimation and guesstimate questions.

How AllthingsPM does this: pick a company hub, filter to the round you are weakest at, and answer five questions out loud before reading the guides. Every question page has a button to start a mock on it, so you move from reading to performing in one click.

Which is better for AI PM roles?

AllthingsPM, clearly. RocketBlocks' PM track focuses on product sense, analytics and technical fluency, and its homepage lists no AI features. That is fine for a classic consumer PM loop, but AI company loops increasingly test evals, model tradeoffs and AI product metrics.

Our AI PM course was built backwards from 604 real PM job postings and is updated weekly: 14 chapters, 101 lessons and 14 graded case studies. Lessons such as the AI product sense and execution rounds and product sense under ambiguity teach what those rounds test, and the knowledge graph shows how the concepts connect.

Then you rehearse on the real thing. The jobs catalog lists 116 live PM roles at 18 AI companies, each with its own mock and a resume check against the same description. For company-specific prep, read our Anthropic PM interview guide and Google PM interview guide.

How AllthingsPM does this: learn a concept in the course, run a mock on a live AI role that asks for it, then read the answer guide for a related question. One subscription covers all three steps.

What that means in practice:

  • For a year, AllthingsPM is $35 cheaper ($120 against $155) and includes live AI mock interviews and a full course.
  • For a month, AllthingsPM is $15 cheaper ($20 against $35).
  • For free, AllthingsPM lasts longer. Our free tier has no end date; RocketBlocks' trial is 7 days.
  • Coaching changes the maths. One RocketBlocks coaching hour ($200) costs more than a full year of AllthingsPM ($120).

How AllthingsPM does this: start on the free tier, use your daily JD mock for a week, and only look at pricing once you have seen the feedback help. There is nothing to cancel if it does not.

What do candidates say about RocketBlocks?

Most public reviews are about RocketBlocks' consulting module, which is where the company started. In a January 2022 r/MBA thread asking about its non-consulting modules, one commenter noted they were "very new", added during 2020. Another, who tried every module except product marketing, called the content library and exercises "helpful" but said there is "a lot of submodule overlap between each specialization" and that the peer interview feature was "relatively underwhelming due to lack of scale".

That matches the drills versus mocks point. Drill content can be good, and the part that is hard to scale is a live partner who pushes back. RocketBlocks' homepage also cites a study at a top 10 US MBA program claiming users are "three times more likely to land a top tier job offer"; we could not find the study itself, so treat it as the company's own claim.

How AllthingsPM does this: our AI interviewer removes the scale problem entirely. It is available at any hour, never cancels, and follows up on your actual answer, so you get the partner a peer platform promises without waiting for one.

A 7 day plan to move from drills to mocks

If you have been drilling on RocketBlocks or elsewhere, here is how to use AllthingsPM to turn that into interview performance, mostly on the free tier.

  1. Day 1: choose a real role. Pick a posting you want, from the jobs catalog or anywhere else, and run the free resume review against the JD. Note what your resume does not yet prove.
  2. Day 2: first JD mock. Paste the posting into the JD mock and answer by voice. Save every follow-up that caught you out.
  3. Day 3: learn the gaps. For AI topics, open the matching AI PM course lesson. For classic topics, read the answer guides in that company's hub.
  4. Day 4: drill, then perform. Answer five questions from the hub out loud in practice before reading each guide.
  5. Day 5: second JD mock. Same posting, new session. Compare the score and follow-ups with Day 2.
  6. Day 6: widen. Use Resume Job Match to find a similar role and run a mock on it.
  7. Day 7: review. Skim a framework summary such as Decode and Conquer and write down your three strongest stories.

How AllthingsPM does this: every step above sits inside one product, and the free tier covers a JD mock and a resume review every day, so the whole week costs nothing.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for a RocketBlocks alternative

The reason people search for a RocketBlocks alternative is usually the same: they have read the sample answers and now want to be tested. AllthingsPM is built for that step, and wins on every point we could check:

  • It interviews you. An AI interviewer with follow-ups and a score, by voice or text. RocketBlocks lists no AI features.
  • It starts from your role. Mocks from any pasted job description, and 116 live AI company roles with their own mocks.
  • It teaches too. A 101 lesson AI PM course built from 604 real PM job postings, and 4,122 questions with answer guides.
  • It covers the application. Resume review against a JD, Resume Job Match, 111 book summaries and 455 PM portfolios.
  • It costs less. $120 a year against $155, $20 a month against $35, and a free tier with no end date.

RocketBlocks' real strength is its human coaches from Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft and Airbnb. If you want one expert session before a final round, that is a fine add-on; for the daily practice that actually gets you ready, one coaching hour costs more than a year of AllthingsPM. Our verdict: for most PM candidates, and clearly for AI PM roles, AllthingsPM is the better choice. Start a free JD mock.
