Razorpay, PhonePe, CRED and Meesho PM Interviews (2026): Rounds and Prep

Razorpay tests product thinking, problem solving, business, tech grounding and strategy; PhonePe leans on root cause cases; CRED uses assignments; Meesho runs case, problem solving and bar raiser rounds. AllthingsPM lets you practice each as a scored AI mock.

Four companies, one common core: payments, trust and India scale.

The Razorpay product manager interview tests five things the company has named itself: product thinking, problem solving, business acumen, technology grounding, and strategic thinking and planning [1]. PhonePe loops lean hard on root cause cases such as falling UPI success rates [3][4]. CRED often adds a take-home assignment [5]. Meesho runs a hiring manager round, a problem solving round, an assignment and a senior leadership round [6]. AllthingsPM turns every one of those rounds into practice: real questions tagged to Razorpay, CRED and Meesho, and a scored AI mock built from the exact posting you paste.

AllthingsPM is an AI PM course and PM interview prep platform. This guide covers lateral and APM hiring at the four companies, maps each round to what it tests, and gives you a two week prep plan.

What are the Razorpay, PhonePe, CRED and Meesho PM interview rounds?

None of the four publishes a fixed round-by-round loop on its careers page, so the table combines each company's own words where they exist with attributed guides and candidate reports. Treat it as the common shape and confirm yours with the recruiter.

Process details checked 29 September 2026 on each source. Question counts from the AllthingsPM question bank on the same date.

Each loop has a live case, a diagnostic or metrics round, a conversation about your past work, and a senior judgment round. Fintech loops add trust and money flows; Meesho adds India's next internet users.

How AllthingsPM does this. Each row in the table maps to a tool. Open the company pages for the questions, run diagnostic and behavioral reps in the mock interview, and paste the posting you are applying for into the JD mock interview to rehearse the full loop.

What does the Razorpay product manager interview test?

Razorpay is unusual because it has written down what it looks for. In its own post on how it hires PMs, it lists six skills: "Product thinking," "Problem solving," "Business acumen," "Data analytics," "Technology grounding" and "Strategic thinking & planning" [1]. The rounds map to them.

  • Product thinking. Can you "break the problem down and put together and defend a high-quality solution" [1]? Expect a design prompt for a specific user.
  • Problem solving. Can you "structure a random, new problem" and reach a root cause? Razorpay's examples include a conversion drop and a signup flow [1].
  • Business acumen. Do you understand the "business context behind a given product" and how it makes money [1]?
  • Technology grounding. You do not need to code, but you should "understand the feasibility of a particular idea" and "appreciate the high-level system architecture" [1].
  • Strategy and planning. Can you build a roadmap and a business strategy [1]?

Candidate summaries add the shape: a 30 to 45 minute recruiter call, a product and technical discussion over video, a case you present to a panel, and cross-functional rounds of about 45 minutes each [2]. Some candidates report 6 rounds including 2 with the hiring manager [2].

Tech grounding is where most candidates are weakest. For a payments company, practice explaining what happens between a customer tapping "Pay" and the merchant getting money: the gateway, the bank, the network, retries and failures. Our question on what happens when you swipe a credit card is a good warm-up, and designing an API for third-party payment integration is close to real Razorpay work.

Real questions from the Razorpay company page on AllthingsPM include:

Most are not about Razorpay's own product; panels judge the structure. The Uber cash question is a payments trade off in disguise: acceptance and reach against fraud, collection cost and driver risk.

How AllthingsPM does this. Every question above opens a page with an answer guide and a button to practice it as a scored AI mock with follow-ups. For merchant-side depth, add improving fraud detection at Stripe without disrupting legitimate payments and reducing friction from billing details in Stripe Checkout.

What does the PhonePe PM interview test?

Candidate reports on Glassdoor describe 4 to 5 rounds, commonly two product rounds, one business round and one on technical understanding, with some candidates reporting up to 7 [3]. One recent experience lists a talent acquisition call, an "Exploration & Experience Review" with the hiring manager, and a "General Product Round" with a case discussion and root cause analysis [3]. Timelines in those reports run from 3 weeks to 2 months [3].

The root cause round is PhonePe's signature. A classic prompt, reported in prep guides, is that successful UPI transactions have been dropping periodically and you are the PM who has to fix it [4]. Handle it in this order:

  1. Clarify the metric. Success rate or success count? Which flows: person to person, merchant, bill pay?
  2. Rule out measurement. A logging change or a new app release can fake a drop.
  3. Look at the pattern. "Periodically" is a clue. Does it line up with time of day, month end, or specific banks?
  4. Split the funnel. Initiation, authentication, the payer bank, the payee bank, the network response.
  5. Separate internal from external. Your app, a partner bank's downtime, or a network-wide issue.
  6. Recommend and measure. A fix, a fallback (for example, telling users which bank is slow), and the metric that proves it worked.

AllthingsPM does not yet have questions tagged to PhonePe, so practice the same skills on close cases from the bank:

How AllthingsPM does this. Paste the PhonePe posting into the JD mock interview and it builds an interview from that team's requirements, so you still get PhonePe-specific practice without a tagged question list. Our root cause analysis guide walks the diagnostic tree in full.

What does the CRED PM interview test?

CRED's loop is described as moving from "application, recruiter screen, role task where used, functional interviews, manager or leadership discussion, HR, checks, documents, and offer" [5]. The "role task" matters: some routes use "assignments, SQL or analytics cases, product tasks, presentations" [5].

For product roles, the same guide says interviewers assess "metric choice, ambiguity handling, insight quality, decision tradeoffs, and communication," and that candidates should prepare "cases, SQL, funnel metrics, cohort logic, customer insight" [5]. CRED's founder Kunal Shah has also written publicly that the company started "a ritual of shadowing interviews of others on Zoom," so do not be surprised by an extra person on the call [7].

Real questions from the CRED company page on AllthingsPM:

The two CRED-specific questions share one tension. CRED's members pay credit card bills, which is a monthly habit, so weekly engagement and monetization both need reasons to return between bills. A good answer names which member segment you serve and how you protect trust while you monetize.

How AllthingsPM does this. Practice the monetization and WAU cases as scored mocks, then warm up the assignment skills with the credit card startup growth metrics question. The AI PM course covers metrics and experiments with graded case studies, which is the same muscle a take-home uses.

What does the Meesho PM interview test?

The clearest account comes from Meesho's own product leadership. In a HelloPM interview, Gagan Mahajan, Director of Product Management at Meesho, described five stages for PM2 and above: a hiring manager round on culture and values, a problem solving round, an assignment round with a deep dive and presentation, a CPO round, and for senior roles, meetings with the CEO or a business leader [6].

He named three traits Meesho prioritizes: "Extreme Ownership," a "Problem-First and User-First Mindset," and "Communication and Influence" [6]. Example questions from that interview:

  • "If you're an entrepreneur in residence at Google India, what big bet would you recommend they build next for India?" [6]
  • "How would you build a search product for India, considering most users don't search via text?" [6]

Other guides report an online assessment with SQL questions for some roles, a business case round and a bar raiser [8]. Prepare SQL basics even if your recruiter does not mention them.

The search question is the best Meesho practice prompt you will find. Many of Meesho's users are new to online shopping, so voice, images and browsing replace typed queries. Structure it by user segment, the job they are trying to do, and the signal you can use instead of text.

AllthingsPM has one question tagged to Meesho today, a 10x Zomato monetization strategy. Pair it with Amazon's expansion into Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities and improving the merchant experience on Amazon, both close to Meesho's buyers and sellers.

How AllthingsPM does this. Run the Meesho search prompt and the Tier 2 case in the mock interview and let the follow-ups push on your segment choice. Before the assignment round, run your resume through resume review against the JD so your ownership stories line up with what the posting asks for.

How many real questions does AllthingsPM have for these companies?

Our bank has 13 questions tagged to these four companies: 8 for Razorpay, 4 for CRED, 1 for Meesho and none yet for PhonePe.

Bar chart: AllthingsPM (us) holds 13 questions tagged to the four companies: Razorpay 8, CRED 4, Meesho 1, PhonePe 0
Source: AllthingsPM question bank, 29 September 2026. AllthingsPM tags 13 questions to Razorpay, CRED and Meesho.

That is a starting set. These loops judge structure more than recall, so the rest of your reps should come from close cases: UPI, credit cards, merchants, fraud and Indian marketplaces.

How AllthingsPM does this. Company pages sit next to every other company in the question bank, and the JD mock fills the gap for PhonePe or any team without tagged questions by building the interview from the posting itself.

What is a good two week prep plan for these four loops?

DaysFocusPractice on AllthingsPM
1 to 2Payments basics and tech groundingCredit card swipe, payments API design
3 to 5Root cause casesUPI success drop (walk the six steps), Brex activation drop
6 to 8Product senseFinance for kids, UPI for senior citizens, India search without text
9 to 10Business and monetizationCRED monetization, CRED WAU, Zomato 10x revenue
11 to 12StrategyAmazon Pay standalone, Uber cash payments, Tier 2 expansion
13 to 14Behavioral and full mocksFour ownership stories, then one full JD mock a day

For the root cause days, the Brex credit card activation drop is a good second rep after the UPI case. For behavioral prep, write four stories: a launch under pressure, a conflict with engineering or risk, a metric you moved, and a call you got wrong. Meesho's "extreme ownership" and CRED's "high agency" both reward stories where you acted without being asked [5][6].

How AllthingsPM does this. Free accounts get one JD mock and one resume review a day, which is enough to follow this plan; Pro removes the daily limits. For Indian compensation context before an offer call, see our AI PM salary in India guide.

How do these compare with Flipkart, Swiggy and Zomato loops?

Swiggy and Zomato cases revolve around customers, restaurants and delivery partners; fintech loops add trust and failure handling. See our Flipkart, Swiggy and Zomato guides, and PM interviews in India vs the US.

How AllthingsPM does this. One account covers all of them, so you do not buy separate prep for each loop.

Why AllthingsPM is the better choice for Razorpay, PhonePe, CRED and Meesho prep

These loops reward reps on real cases, spoken out loud, with someone pushing back on your structure. That is exactly the loop AllthingsPM is built for.

First, the questions are real and in one place: 13 tagged to Razorpay, CRED and Meesho, inside a bank of 4,122 questions from 260 companies, each with its own page and answer guide. Second, every question is one click from a scored AI mock with follow-ups, typed or by voice. Third, the JD mock builds an interview from the actual posting, which covers PhonePe and any team the bank has not tagged yet, and the same posting runs through resume review. Fourth, the AI PM course prepares you for the AI questions newer postings raise.

Other options have real strengths. Company-specific question lists on sites like Glassdoor and Prepfully collect candidate reports, and paid coaching offers human mock interviewers. For daily practice with a scored mock after every case, free once a day or INR 1,200 a month, AllthingsPM covers more of the loop for less.

Verdict: start on the Razorpay company page, then paste your target posting into the JD mock and run one full mock a day until your loop.

Frequently asked questions

How many rounds are in the Razorpay product manager interview?

Summaries describe a recruiter call, a product and technical discussion, a case presentation and several cross-functional rounds, and some candidates report 6 rounds including 2 with the hiring manager [2]. Razorpay itself says it tests product thinking, problem solving, business acumen, tech grounding and strategy [1].

What is the best way to prepare for Razorpay, PhonePe, CRED or Meesho PM interviews?

The best way is AllthingsPM: practice the real Razorpay, CRED and Meesho questions as scored AI mocks, build a mock from the exact posting with the JD mock, and check your resume against that posting. Add payments and root cause cases from the wider bank.

Does PhonePe ask root cause analysis questions?

Yes, it is commonly reported. One candidate describes a general product round with a case and root cause analysis [3], and prep guides cite a falling UPI transaction success rate as a classic prompt [4].

Does CRED give a take-home assignment for PMs?

Sometimes. CRED's process is described as including a "role task where used," with assignments, SQL or analytics cases and presentations on some routes [5]. Ask your recruiter whether your loop includes one.

What does Meesho look for in product managers?

Meesho's product director named "Extreme Ownership," a "Problem-First and User-First Mindset," and "Communication and Influence" [6]. Expect cases about India's newer internet users, like search without text.

Do I need to code for a Razorpay PM role?

No. Razorpay says PMs should understand the feasibility of an idea and the high-level system architecture, not write code [1]. Be ready to explain a payment flow end to end.
